The stone slips out of the non-slip rubber boot

400 and 1000 grit grinding stones work well for this. I only have a problem with the rubber boot. During use, the stone appears to move and then possibly slip out of the shoe. I used clamps to surround the stone to secure it but this was a temporary fix. I may have to build a mill where the stone stabilizes better.

Pleasantly surprised

This is my first time ordering a sharpening stone online and I was lucky enough to get it. It came in a very nice box with a thoughtful note inside, along with a stone and a very handy holding frame. My old whetstone didn't have this and I had to use a towel or something to keep it in place. Finally, the quality of the stone is very good and will sharpen my knives very effectively.

Pros
  • Great overall quality
Cons
  • Expensive

Keep them sharp! in Hand Tools

I have been using automatic knife sharpeners and finally watched a YouTube video and found out about WhetStone. Definitely happy with the results. My knives stay sharp and this helps a lot in keeping them sharp. If you are looking for a quick fix, this product is not for you. This takes time and effort and should be a process you do weekly if you cook frequently and use freshly cut vegetables or meat for cooking.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Some minor issues

Thought I could do this job

I didn't take this stone thinking it would be the best, I paid $13 for it. I went the cheap route because I just needed a cheaper sharpening stone that I could keep in the kitchen at work and not worry too much if something happened to it. It seemed slow to sharpen, so it's alright, alright. But the problem is on the 1000s side, after about 10 minutes of use, small white dots started to appear. I'm not sure what they really are, but they are difficult. During sharpening, the blade of the knife…

Big Stone - take 3000/8000 as a companion.

Great starter block, great price and really everything you need to get started without shelling out $$$. If you're just starting out sharpening, this is what you need to get started. There are tons of videos on youtube but focus on learning apex, forming a good burr and maintaining a constant angle when sharpening. 400 coarse sharpening, 1000 fine sharpening. Eventually you will need 3000/8000 or 3000/6000 --- 3000 cleaning and 6000/8000 polishing and refining. But that's after you really get…

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

My experience seems extraordinary; didn't work for me.

I followed the instructions carefully including water bath etc. The "angle positioner" shown in your photo has not been included or excluded from the text as is normally the case if applicable. Spent 20 minutes with a pair of 8 inch kitchen knives, alternating between using both sides. (From 400, 15 degrees, etc.) After all, no knife would cut a tomato - wouldn't break the skin. Then I tried the small 62 x 4mm honing rod that came with my Swiss Army Knife. It fits perfectly in a leather case…

Pros
  • Multiple competitors
Cons
  • unreliable

Ideal for removing large amounts of metal at once.

This product is great for quickly adding a new edge to any blade. This water stone is not designed to create a clean edge. For a clean edge you need a higher grit, e.g. B. a Waterstone with a grit of 8000 or higher. I use four different grain values, starting with the lowest grain value to the highest in sequential order. And then I do the final polishing of the edges with green oxide on the leather strap.

Pros
  • Made of high-quality silicon carbide, the 400-grit side is suitable for everyday sharpening, e.g. B. for repairing large cutting edges and polishing knives.
Cons
  • Available in white only

On and hand tool ready

I have used this sharpening stone on scissors, pocket knives, fixed knives and chisels. On the 400 side it's just abrasive enough to remove nicks from the blades and cause burrs, and the 1000 makes a sharp hairline on everything I've used it for. I ended up ordering 3000/8000 from the same manufacturer Keenbest to keep the polished look of the blade and it works great on a knife that has already gone 1000. But if you just need a stone to repair, repair or maintain the blades, this would be…

Pros
  • This white corundum whetstone sharpens faster and sharpens itself well. When grinding the white alumina whetstone, new edges and corners are created very quickly, and the self-sharpening property is good. Therefore, dressing of the grinding wheel should be performed seldom, and work efficiency can be improved.
Cons
  • Not sure
