Gate Roller: Material Handling Materials

This gate smasher is as it should be. For my gate it is small and the range is not enough. However, it works conditionally. I'll have to get a bigger one. My gate is 7 feet with a 4 foot door. Drop is about 2 inches and bottom drop varies from 2 to 3 inches. Of course I found out after installing this caster. I hope this helps someone figure out their caster for their gate app. For your health

It's so nice that you don't have to lift the gate.

I installed this on a very large (6ft high x 12" wide) chain link fence made of heavy gauge pipe. I used 2 U-bolts to attach it firmly to the wall. pipes, and after some adjustment it took the weight of the gate and works fine! SO beautiful that you don't have to lift the gate to get through the thick grass [I live in the country so there's no good level path]. well done but only time will tell if it survives our winters etc.

Better than I thought

Purchased to support the end of a 7ft wooden fence attached to a T-post. It does an excellent job of taking the stress out of fasting so it doesn't get too lean. The gate opens and closes easily, even if I forget to mow the lawn. The spring is strong enough to bear the weight easily. A little tricky to attach with screws unless you use a deep head. It would have been easier if I had used screws so I could tighten them from the other side, but I was limited by what I had on hand at the time.

Don't know about negative reviews

Don't know about negative reviews. I bought this for my garage door to reduce stress on the hinges. Each door is made of wood and weighs 200 pounds. The hinges support everything, but I figured it would help prevent sagging. I pressed the spring in half and used some bolts with washers and nuts to attach it to the back of the door. For people complaining that they didn't come with clasps, you might want to start knitting. How will this company supply mounting hardware for each type of…

Good idea, bad design

Plugged this into my gate and for the most part it works. It was easy to install. This helps my wooden fence gate, which is about 5 feet wide, to move very well. It also helps prevent gate sag. The problem is that if it meets resistance there is enough free space in the wheel to curve towards the gate and the wheel will snag on the wooden picket fence causing the wheel to lock up. up and "glide" over the concrete. Just before my gate closes, there is a slight bump in the road between the…

Nice roller but the specs are wrong

This thing can't handle the weight it says in the description. With my gate not too heavy they couldn't lift it. I knew it wasn't going to happen as soon as I opened the package. Say it like this. Will you be able to compress a 125 pound feather with your fingers? I know I couldn't. I could almost squeeze it with one hand and I'm a skinny guy. That made it a real challenge to set up, as it had to roll over slightly uneven surfaces on the way to close and set up on close. The latch with the hook

Pros
  • 125lb capacity
Cons
  • Can't remember

We added this wheel after having a wooden gate in the driveway and a wooden fence around the property. The gate proved difficult for my children to open and close and swung open at the slightest gust of wind. We see a lot of sagging gates here in the Midwest and we wanted to add insurance that we won't have. We attached a cedar strut left by the contractor to the back of the gate and attached a wheel to it. We've placed it in the center of the gate leaf so that it fully touches our tarmac…
