Don't buy them. - Cycling

I seriously doubt this is a Shimano product. The quality is terrible. My first running shoes lasted three years. In the attached photo they are 2 months old. They are complete rubbish. They fall apart and do not have the same rigidity as the original spikes when inserted or removed. Don't buy them.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Easily repairable

This is fake, only buy from Shamano as seller.

This seller sells counterfeit Fugazi pedals, aka Shimano. The spikes broke within an hour of landing my bike. I can only blame myself for not being diligent with the seller. I thought I would buy from Shimano. Attention Emptor don't lose your money. Look for a round shape, if you don't have a shape it's probably not real Shimano.

Pros
  • Top marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Big and chunky

Fake, beware! >:(

later I don't think these are/were real Shimano cleats as the weight and more importantly the performance say otherwise. There used to be problems with real Shimano cleats) than I removed them from the pedals. No wonder there is NO RETURN OR REFUND POLICY. which makes me say "hmmmmmm, no wonder". They sell fakes. Buyer BEWARE

Good for cycling. Worst off-bike durability

We all know that spikes aren't made for walking, but we all know that a little walk when riding is inevitable. This is where Shimano fails with their "slippery yellow pads", which are an absolute joke because they wear out very quickly and in many cases fall apart on the first ride. Is this a clever marketing strategy to get us to buy more? I don't know, but I'll start looking for more reliable solutions.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • I won't say anything

You gotta do better

I put on my new boots one day and when I came home from a bike ride I noticed the blue side of the boot had broken off. Serious?! After one use. You should be more successful at creating these things. They're supposed to be strong enough to hold a rider for a while, especially if you use spike covers like I did. I contacted the seller to see if they would replace it so I could have a properly working spike. We will see! I have attached photos of the spikes from my bike ride.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Some trouble

I buy a new set once (or twice) a year

I buy these annually and I love how they allow your foot to rotate and align on your pedals. I don't wear them out while riding, but while walking. For the price of a new set every year, I don't have to worry about clipping and unclipping my cleat covers while running in my cycling shoes. Boots wear out much faster. My last set only lasted about 6 months and when I checked my mileage it correlated with when I first looked at it and said it was a year old. In terms of functionality they areโ€ฆ

My third pair and as always they are excellent

I'm a cyclist with expensive tastes but on a dog catcher's budget. Over the years I've learned to avoid cheap things because they don't last long and therefore don't save money. Nowhere is this more true than in cycling consumables. My Giro racing boots are almost ten years old, but after a fresh clean and polish they look and feel almost new. The included cleats wore out after a few seasons so I replaced them with the cleats shown here. There is some controversy in this comment section as toโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Best in their niche
Cons
  • A little torn

I don't know how to explain, I just feel like other designs don't allow me to pedal at all unless fully locked out while Shimano allows me to to pedal whether I'm locked or not. stay here with me On club rides, when starting from a stop at a red light/stop sign, it's crucial that you can accelerate and get through the intersection, rather than holding people back by messing with the lock. In my experience, the Shimano design works best for this situation - the wide design allows for pedalingโ€ฆ

These are higher quality boots!

There are two types of SPD-SL cleats and one of them has been unofficially withdrawn so I can't believe they are still on the market. IT'S GOOD! They work very well and although ALL the cleats wear out over time they seem to be very durable until the end. The last pair I bought lasted me all season. It took me close to 2000 miles and a lot of running to wear them down! The spikes come with all the necessary washers and screws to fit directly into SPD-SL compatible shoes. Just make sure you doโ€ฆ
