This is Ultegra. Enough said.

In my opinion there has never been, and never will be, a better overall set of components than Shimano Ultegra. The same goes for their cassettes. It works like a charm - almost identical to the higher-end Dura-Ace model, except it weighs a few grams more, but handles much heavier loads without a single complaint. If you hear chain noise or feel a bit hesitant when shifting, it's due to a misconfiguration of Shimano's newer and trickier rear derailleur. The cassette is great.

Factory/Quality Control Issues

The cassette came out of the box with a couple of bad teeth on the two smallest cogs. I didn't notice any chipping on the edges - the teeth were perfectly flat so looks more like a manufacturing defect / quality control issue. I have no idea if this happens often or not (I returned these and got a different, much cheaper Shimano cassette and had no problems with it - I find Shimano gear is usually pretty high quality) but figured I would anyway must report.

Sturdy Shimano for cassettes and freehubs

Mounted on a Sram Force 22 drivetrain Shifting is flawless but compared to the Sram cassette the Ultegra has an aluminum bracket so it doesn't stick to my aluminum Vision hub and the Ultegra The stomp has smoother jumps throughout the cassette, while the Sram has fewer mid-range jumps. and big jumps in low gears. This is personal preference but I find it easier to find the right gear with a Shimano cassette: 11-12-13-14-15-16-17-19-22-25-28 (Sram PG-1170) 11-12-13-14-15-17-19-21-23-25-28โ€ฆ

Slim and light: parts and components

The R8000 is only 47 grams lighter than my factory cassette R7000 (105), but crap is a lot easier. My bike came with Ultegra derailleurs and rear derailleurs, but I got a 105 cassette because it's more durable. When shopping for a new pair of carbon wheelsets, I bought this r8000 cassette and loved it. Shifting is smooth even in the middle of a climb. Worth every penny and Radsportler got it delivered on time with no damage to the packaging. I will probably buy another 8000r to permanentlyโ€ฆ
