Does the job: measuring and marking tools

I was a bit disappointed with the accuracy; When my surface plate is set to zero, the line width doesn't match the width. maybe 1/4 degree. Still pretty usable for most things, but still. You can see a thousand or three slops in a pole. The screw lock seems to work fine. The numbering is nice and bold and easy to read, but it's screen printed, not engraved on the metal, and they warn against using thinner as "thinner can remove scale". Time will tell how durable the scale is.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Exorbitant price

It's the perfect tool for things where I need a .

I use this all the time in my wood workshop. This is the perfect tool for things where I need to draw a reference line at a specific angle. I usually find a corner and draw a line for as long as possible. Then finish the line with a straight edge. I've had this thing for over a year now and it's still running strong. No rust. Didn't fall apart. None of the increments have disappeared on it. It's a great little protractor, and the steel it's made of is thick enough not to bend.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Not the best

The protractor I received is half a degree off

This is a well made protractor that was built to survive in the toolbox. The main purpose of a protractor is to measure an angle. In my opinion this protractor is about 1/2 degree wrong and there is a video on You Tube showing how to fix it. Something else might make it better. Place a 6-inch ruler scale, a useful convenience, on the protractor's hand instead of leaving it empty, a waste of space. Also, extend the line along the angle scale from 0 degrees to 180 degrees, which will make it…

Great transporter. Nicely made,

The first protractor I bought was sold by Changda Technology. Basically it was junk and for the same price as Shinwa. Shinwa is a product that is far superior in every way. You can buy both just for fun to see the ridiculous difference between them. If a Chinese Changda was only $2 I'd say you're getting fair value for your money. For the same price as a real protractor, it's just a waste of time to buy and return. Yes, it's made by an instrument company in Illinois, and yes, it looks great…

Looks reliable and accurate

Seems to be a great tool. I've used it a dozen times a year since I bought it. It seems reliable and accurate. Most of the time I use a tool holder alignment tool on a lathe. The figures show that the accuracy at 0 and 180 degrees is very good. In both cases, the edge of the datum bar is perfectly square with the edge of the disk. In fact, at zero degrees, the edge of the support rod is perfectly aligned with the edge of the protractor disk. The locking handle works smoothly and holds the angle

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Functionality

Good value for money

This is a decent protractor but lacks a few features that seem to be lacking on the market. He looks solid. I measured the gauge head and indicator bar to be 3/64" thick. Gauge, numbers and indicator are engraved. Finish is good too. No burrs or sharp edges. Indicator strip to gauge head. Once clamped it is strong and will hold up a specific angle. I was looking for a decent round head depth gauge protractor from Revain that included both imperial and metric measurements. It doesn't appear to…

Good product just shaky delivery

This tool is of very good quality. I'm impressed that the protractor lock is so good that it doesn't need to be locked much. The movements are gradual when trying to set the grade and the grades are marked on a nice matte finish. So if I have oil it should be easy to see. The only thing that worries me is that it came to me in the package. The plastic cover and cardboard backing were slightly wrinkled. The adjustable nut managed to break the package and continued to move up, breaking off the…

Good enough for the average home workshop or general retailer

This item has been manufactured in China, allegedly to the specifications, standards and expectations of the well known and respected Japanese company Shinwa. Among the reasonably good quality tools available, it is inexpensive, convenient, accurate, and more than adequate for marking key squares in the typical home workshop or the occasional carpenter, jack of all trades, etc. Are there better, stronger, more accurate protractors? Are there more expensive protractors? Of course. This model is…
