Description of 🔪 Shun Kanso 5.5-Inch Hollow-Ground Santoku Knife: Perfect for Medium-Sized Tasks; Ergonomic Grip; High-Performance, Razor-Sharp Stainless Steel Blade; Tagayasan Wood Handle

At 5.5 inches, Shun’s smaller Kanso Hollow-Ground Santoku will quickly become a favorite multi-purpose kitchen knife; in-between size and weight make this blade easy to maneuver. A Santoku is an Asian-inspired chef’s knife; its smaller version rises to the occasion for medium-sized kitchen tasks, such as slicing carrots, mincing herbs and cutting chocolate. High-performance, high-carbon Japanese steel blade holds a razor-sharp, 16-degree, double-bevel edge; hollow-grounds on blade help food release more quickly for added ease in food preparation. Handsome tagayasan wood handle and Heritage blade finish enhance knife’s appeal, making it an ideal gift for the chef, cook, student, aspiring chef, bride, groom, newlyweds, graduate and more. Handcrafted in Japan, Kanso meets the elite standards of all Shun Cutlery; inspired by Zen philosophy, Kanso offers the essential simplicity of a razor-sharp edge, perfect balance, and precision performance.

Quality knife matches cutlery and knife accessories

It seems odd that people get bad versions of this item, although I don't think any manufacturing process is perfect. My knife was delivered without defects or other workmanship defects and works well as expected.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Not spicy at all! best in kitchen and dining room

Bought this knife hoping the Japanese steel would be better than my German knives. My husband had to sharpen the blade within a day of receiving it! It doesn't even cut a tomato like my German knives! DO NOT BUY this knife - waste of over $100 :/

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • No automatic

Great Shun game. Best Cutlery & Knife Accessories

Fast shipping and the seller delivered a perfectly finished Shun Kanso Santoku 5.5 inch. The knife I received has no defects. Excellent quality control from this seller. I'm a big collector of tactical and kitchen knives and I take my blades very seriously. If I pay good money for a knife, it has to be perfect. No imperfections aloud until I apply them, in which case I take the time and effort to fix myself; it's just honest.

Pros
  • Got it!

Not the quality I was expecting

A few comments.- I have purchased several knives in this set and they all have had the same results.- I have had them for a few months.1. The wooden handles don't reach the edge of the steel. This makes them a bit uncomfortable as the whole part of the handle is not smooth.2. After 1 month the wooden handles have come loose and can still be moved attached.3. Even though they're stainless steel, they're still carbon and started rusting right away.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Speed of work

Not my favorite: Kitchen & Dining

I have several Kanso knives. I love their aesthetic and I love their design which is sort of a fusion of Japanese and "Western" knife design. They cost a little more than VG10 and VGmax Shun knives (like the Shun Classic), which is nice, and AUS08/AUS10 steel is very good. these edges are sharpened. You really need a ceramic sharpening steel or a sling filled with honing compound/rouge to keep this steel straight razor sharp. You will need whetstones from time to time to touch up the edge…

Pros
  • Good item
Cons
  • Unreliable

Best knives I've ever owned

I've bought two knives from this range and this has become my go-to knife for everything. I like the light weight, sharp blade and compact size. I couldn't be happier. These knives are like little swords. Much better quality than any knife I've used before. I've been in the kitchen for ten years now and these are the sharpest knives I've ever seen straight out of the box. Most of the kitchens I've been to carry the lower Wusthof or Dexter knives whose handles are too big and uncomfortable for…

Pros
  • Same as everything before
Cons
  • Requires an outlet
