Thank God for these

thank God for that. I have 4 circuits in my house where the "electrician" who hooked it up ran 14/3 wire to make two circuits instead of two 14/2 circuits, using a common neutral wire to save money, thank you. Loser. This allows you to use the same two circuits on an AFCI circuit breaker and be compliant as AFCI circuit protection is required for almost every 15 or 20 amp circuit in your home.

Siemens (Murray) renamed these CAFCIs mid-cycle to hide the fact that they detect some degree of ground fault. I think the detection threshold is around 30mA (instead of >5mA for Class A GFCI or GFCI + CAFCI combos). On newer versions, the front label of the circuit breaker hides the ground fault LED (it's still there if you cut/remove the label!) and the packaging text has been updated to remove references to ground fault detection.
