Buy OEM instead. - Spools

Wires too long. The resistance between ground and secondary and between primary and secondary is more than twice the resistance of the OEM coil. Will not assemble correctly without major modification. I had the same problem with Sierra Johnson/Evinrude coils. I will no longer buy Sierra Coils. Poor quality in my opinion.

The old OMC coils were still in good condition, only the wires had a few cracks.

These coils may work for others but not for me. Got it to replace an old omc on my evinrude 40hp and they started to disappear and act like crazy on the second ride around the lake. The old OMC coils were still in good condition just a few cracks in the wires so fixed them back in and they worked again. These new aftermarket reels wasted my money and time. I wish I could just spend a few bucks more and get omc instead.

Check coils immediately!

Very disappointed! I have ordered parts for a father and son project to rebuild a Johnson outboard in a few months. I took these coils which looked very well made. I didn't start for several months until I had all the details. After installing the coils in the engine, there was no spark. So I tested them with an ohmmeter and found them to be BAD straight out of the bag. I hope they will support this product but I don't think the new coil set will be BAD?

NOT GOOD brand new and MADE Sierra glasses

Received 2 coils by courier today WHILE I was working on the outboard. I installed the coils and Sierra goggles that I received yesterday. The glasses were creased right out of the plastic bag and one set didn't close properly enough to close. Assemble the NO FIRE engine. Pulled FLYWHEEL 3 times, checked and rechecked installation and wiring. Flywheel removed and only one thing left to test the NEW Sierra Coils. One was 12.5 on the secondary and NOTHING on the primary, NOT GOOD, brand new and…

Tickets only! - Bobbins

Given the distance the bobbins had to travel and the risk I was taking ordering from the US (I was very unsure of what UK import taxes etc might apply), the whole experience amazing . They arrived quickly and were tracked every step of the way and best of all they are half the price of the roll in this country. Did they get my Johnson to work?
