HAS NO MARK FOR MEASUREMENTS.

This is a direct replacement BUT it has NO markings to measure float height. Stick has a casting point for reference. You're just guessing with this garbage.

Scrap, buy the original of this part

Scrap. This float has no timing marks and is not the same construction as the Original Equipment (OE) float. The design is close, but wrong enough to raise concerns about the float hanging on internals due to tight gaps that don't exist. with OE float.

Pros
  • Hands free
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Worth replacing

If the carburetor is open, replace this part. It's simple, and the one in your carburetor can become saturated with fuel, changing performance. Note: The side seam line is NOT where you should measure - measure the tip, the part where the float goes from the corner to the vertical.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • boring packaging

No adjustment markings

Please note this float has no adjustment markings and Sierra does not provide measuring instructions. Measuring to the "toe” resulted in a different float level than the OEM float when measured to its mark. You can do more harm than good if you replace the float with an incorrectly adjusted one.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Expensive

This is a swimmer. - Float

The shape of this float is similar to the original float in my Mercarb 2 run, however there are a few major issues with this replacement. First, as others have pointed out, there are no indentations on the toes. Second, the float didn't come close to getting the setting right. The tongues had to be bent so much that I almost couldn't get this float to work. It would also be nice if the float came with some specs for the different carburetors it will fit - absolutely no instructions or specs are

Good replacement float Mercarb

Sierra Carburetor Float 18-7202 for Mercarb is a good replacement part. I needed to rebuild my carburetor so I bought this float as most carburetor rebuild kits do not include a new float. Pros: Decent guide and all the necessary tools to adjust the carburetor. Nifty little tape. Cons: As mentioned, adjustment means simply using the tip of the float to adjust (we're talking millimeters here, accuracy is key). The standard version actually has a small plastic dot measurements on the side of the…

Can't withstand ethanol

Buyers beware, this float is a fine replica of the real thing, but the material isn't as strong. After the first swap the boat started and after some adjustments seemed to be running great. A few days later he began to work rich and black smoke came out. Further adjustments yielded the same results. I began to notice that the surface was blistered and scratched in several places. After slight pressure on this area, it collapsed. I've found blister spots to wear out and dirt to get into my fuel…

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Secret

The only part I needed to get my carburetor working again

I rebuilt the carburetor on my Mercruiser 3.0 using one of these aftermarket kits and it probably worked fine for a few months, before it suddenly started pouring. I took the carb apart again, kept measuring the float height and drop, but still no luck. Either it was flooded or it didn't get enough fuel, and the difference was a millimeter or two in the height of the float. I eventually went ahead and ordered an OEM rebuild kit but received it and found it didn't include a new float! Spend…

Pros
  • Durable fairing

  • There are downsides
