The perfect product for any user!

I changed Sigma 85 / 1.4 HSM ART to this lens, I do not regret anything. If that lens simply did not want to get out of the bag because of its weight and size, then this lens wants to shoot and shoot. Compared to the previous version of Sigma, the lens has a much faster AF speed (about 2-3 times), which allows you to calmly shoot sports events, smaller XA, a much more convenient lens hood (I don’t understand why no one thought of this before), a higher real aperture ( about a third of a stop)…

Pros
  • + High sharpness + Weight and dimensions + Contrast + Aperture + Almost complete absence of HA + Lightning fast autofocus + Comfortable lens hood + Excellent resistance to stray light. + Add. functionality in the form of a clickless diaphragm and a programmable button. + The lens barrel is scratch resistant (or so it seemed to me.)
Cons
  • - Unusually high distortion for an 85mm class lens, which, however, is automatically corrected in the RAW converter.

Best Portrait Lens Available

This is the main lens I use for portraits, family photos and weddings. The sharpness and resolution this lens delivers is amazing! I mainly use this lens on my A7Riv, but also occasionally on my A7iii.

Pros
  • Excellent Construction
Cons
  • Legacy

Great lens: Lenses for SLR cameras

I'm not a professional. But I'm a fan of Sigma lenses. The Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG DN Art is a professional lens. There have already been many positive reviews on the internet. I read most of the reviews online before purchasing the lens. And now I'm very happy with it.

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • Functionality

Great lens with autofocus warning

The lens is a great portrait lens with one exception. I have big problems with the autofocus, which constantly "caresses” the edges of the picture. Sometimes very frustrating. Overall image quality with this lens is excellent when focus is locked, but autofocus issues rarely bother me when shooting portraits with this lens.

Pros
  • Good
Cons
  • Damaged

Wow, that's a fast and sharp lens

Honestly, there's nothing else to say but "Wow, that lens is sharp and fast." It's also surprisingly small considering that it is 85 1.4. Eye AF works great with the Sony body. The quality of the lens you get for the price is second to none. It beats the 85 GM in every way (AF speed/accuracy, sharpness, size/weight, and price).

Pros
  • Solid workmanship
Cons
  • So far so good

Nice sharp sweet blockade

I have both an earlier, much heavier Sigma 85mm f1.4 and this lighter model. The early one was an impressive beast, of course, but so big I only took it on "serious" shoots. This one hangs around with me all the time and I often take it and my Sony 24mm f1.4 with me. In between I get all the beauty I need in most situations. This lens is also great for portraits, but I'll only show you a still life as there's no need for a shutter.

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • New competitors have appeared

Items in my dream lens range

I started professional portrait photography with a Rokinon 85mm 1.4 on my Sony A7iii in 2015 and we've come a long way. I've bought cheaper and more expensive lenses, most recently the Sony 35mm 1.4G Master and this lens boasts the best autofocus, bokeh and sharpness of the entire range. This is the third Sigma lens I've bought. (50mm and 20mm 1.4) and the consistency is amazing. All three lenses far outperform the competition in their price range and can easily compete with the most expensive…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Some little things

Surpasses Sony GM

I mainly shoot with Canon R5 and RF 85mm f1.2L lens. The RF 85mm 1.2 is one of the most optically advanced lenses on the market. I have an a7iii that I saved for a BTS video and decided to pair this lens with it and I'm very impressed. It outperforms the Sony GM 85mm in image quality and autofocus performance, and is much closer to the specs of my $2,700 RF 85mm than I expected. In all the reviews I was a little skeptical about the serious pincushion distortion this lens causes, but I actually…

Pros
  • significantly even against the old
Cons
  • Negative is present
