Very sharp lens. on lenses

I have never bought a third party lens. So I decided I would give it a try. I have some Sigma camera components so I trusted the name enough to buy a piece of glass. I mainly photograph landscapes and cities. I was looking for something broad. Even with a "fishy" appearance. It's also easy to add a fish eye to my collection. The images are sharp and clean. At f/2.8 it captures a lot of light. 15mm full frame looks great. I was careful not to grab my legs while taking multiple shots. The…

Great fisheye if you can't afford a Canon lens. Great lens.

I was actually skeptical that the 15mm fisheye lens had much more to offer than my current 16-35 Canon L-series lens. I have to say I was really impressed. The fisheye aspect of the lens allows it to capture much more of the scene (nearly 180 degrees). The f/2.8 aperture value is a big plus and I was impressed with the colors this lens delivered. I usually see a big difference between Canon lenses and Sigma lenses. (based on a comparison between Sigma f2.8 70-200 and Canon f2.8 70-200) but I…

Really Fun Lens - Lenses

I have never used a fisheye lens before and I hated reading some of the reviews about how difficult it is to use but found it easy and very fun. You just have to keep in mind that the closer your subject is, the more obvious the distortion will be. That's all. In addition, the lens is really better suited for full-frame sensors. This is fantastic on my 5D Mark II, but cropping on my 20D eliminates almost all fisheye distortion. There is some chromatic aberration at the corners of the image, but

Pros
  • Quick Change
Cons
  • Long Shipping

i wanted to have a fisheye lens in my bag about a year ago. My biggest concern is getting such a lens that works both crop and full frame as I often use this lens on the beach with my backup camera and not with my pro gear. At first I thought I would use it mostly for personal photography and not so much for my professional life, but it turns out I'm able to capture these beautiful fisheye images from some of my regular sessions. The lens itself has an odd lens cap that I'm not used to. I have…

I hate fisheye lenses

So I don't really like fisheye lenses, actually I didn't feel like buying them, on the other hand my wife loved the fisheye view she actually has I don't take photos but I love looking at pictures so our daughter's wedding was coming up anyway and even though they had a pro there my wife still wanted me to bring a camera to photograph guests and some of the decorations. I told her ok I'll take my micro 4/3 camera so I don't look like Uncle Bob lol and also I can take really good pictures with…

A New Way to See the World

First, to a previous reviewer who called this lens a "garbage lens" because it has "the most severe distortion I've ever experienced": You really are only paying Hundreds of dollars on a fisheye lens without knowing what a fisheye lens is? Serious? In case anyone is confused, this lens is nothing but a regular lens. It provides a distorted image that can be quite unique and interesting when cleverly composed (see example images on the description page). The Sigma 15mm fisheye lens is well made…

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Annoying

Very sharp and interesting lens. Exceeded my expectations.

I wasn't sure how long I'd been using something like this. Fisheye lenses are a type of novel lens with limited uses. However, I use this lens more than I thought I would. In fact, I use it more for landscape photography than my other more conventional lenses. Obviously there is significant bias. With this type of lens, you're working with distortion rather than trying to avoid it. This can create a very unique image. I enjoy this landscape lens. By tilting it down a bit I can make a boundary…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
