Runs on a rack server with Ubuntu Linux (JU-P40412-S1)

These (JU-P40412-S1) work on Dell PowerEdge Racks Server R520 with Ubuntu Linux. I chose the Siig card because it uses the Renesas (NEC) USB chipset. From what I've read, the NEC chipset helps with compatibility. Rack Servers: There's a catch that's not unique to this board. Most, if not all, of these USB expansion cards typically require additional power. The inner workings of most rack servers are so optimized for efficient use of space that you will probably not find a free power connection.

Pros
  • Adds four external Super Speed USB 3.0 ports to a PCIe-enabled desktop PC
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Do not use on Windows 7 PCs

Product does not work on Windows 7 PCs - Installs fine but all USB devices become invisible intermittently - I read the article around April 12th. Returned around August and I DO NOT NEED A RETURN STATUS OR A REFUND YET IN ORDER TO ORDER THE CORRECT PART FOR MY SYSTEM. Please let me know the status.

Pros
  • Complies with PCI Express Core Specification Revision 2.0
Cons
  • Minor repairability

Works great but need for SATA power connector not disclosed

Great product and works great but I'm only giving 4 stars because neither the outer packaging nor the Revain description is mentions that some applications may require an internal SATA power connector. I learned this from the installation guide when I opened the box and was ready to install. I had to put the card aside, order a SATA power expander and wait a few more days to install the card. Not only annoying but also embarrassing because I did this for a client!

Pros
  • Powered by Renesas (NEC) chipset for maximum compatibility
Cons
  • Clarity

There's something wrong with this thing.

I have no doubt that buyers with good and bad experiences are right. "This initially appears to work in win7 and then becomes unidentified after future downloads. It seems to work stably on Win8. "Anyone have a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H cell phone? I just received an Inateck device that doesn't need a network connection and everything is fine. "I'll update later. I want to send this SIIG to your address to find out the reason for your behavior. I've always liked SIIG and I really wonder why it's…

Pros
  • Supports data rates up to 5Gbps and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0/1.1 devices
Cons
  • Security

These are great units. I use it all the time.

These are excellent devices. I use it all the time on my desktop for external hard drives, DVD burners, etc. It's much faster than USB 2.0 when used to back up your computer's hard drive. Required topic.

Pros
  • Overcurrent protection support per port
Cons
  • Approximately
