Men: Repairing worn elbows on dress shirts

After all, when you're wearing a dress shirt, your elbow is the number one weak point. For years, as soon as that happened, I threw the shirt in the trash can. I wish I had tried this product sooner. At the first sign of wear on the elbows in a shirt, I used this patch on the inside of the sleeve and I'm willing to bet I've doubled the life of the shirt. The product is easy to use but read the instructions. I ruined a shirt with an iron because the instructions say to hold the iron on theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Not recommended for use on nylon or viscose or polyester monofilament fabrics
Cons
  • Some problems

Stays in place, a little stiff

I've read negative reviews and I don't understand - either the fabric isn't compatible, or the batch is defective, or they didn't follow the instructions. We've been using it for 5 years and have never peeled off, wash after wash. They are quite thin, but more robust than denim - on a thin fabric you can see the contours of the patch. I also used them on new pants to keep my son from rubbing his knees. Here are more detailed instructions than on the box: 1. Make sure your fabric can withstandโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Finishes and decorations
Cons
  • Discontinued model

First app, time will tell.

Update: It's been 5 months and I've washed the blouse at least once a week (up to 3 times in a few weeks), the patch is still perfect! This is the same white color; no yellow cast! The corners and edges are still glued to the clothing; no rolling! The cuts I made on the patch aren't frayed either! I am very impressed with the value I got from these patches! I highly recommend this product! I attached another patch to the clothing with a spiky tag sewn into the seam so it couldn't be cut outโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Arts, Crafts & Sewing
Cons
  • Crumpled

My iron has a steam control and temperature setting. Seeing this, I assumed that while I wasn't planning on using steam, it was probably a good indication of where to put the iron. I set the regulator to about 20% above the minimum vapor setting. When everything worked, I decided to take the temperature. At this setting, the iron appears to hold a temperature of around 400 degrees Fahrenheit (the temperature of the iron's surface). I enlarged the patch and placed a second smaller piece on theโ€ฆ
