Great quality and price. I thought I could hook up my Arduinos square connectors, but they are only for round pin ICs and components. But still cool and comfortable.

Not sure what makes it gold but I think I trust it a bit more than the silver versions to make good connections. I use them for DIY IC sockets and they work great for that. Would buy again.

These are machine pins for machine type IC and head sockets. They are NOT protopins. Low ratings are almost certainly due to consumer ignorance. These are excellent gold plated pins that will fit in all the machine sockets in my tool box.

I ordered these for soldering transistors and diodes. Every time I tried to take them apart I would have a set of 3-4 pins the plastic would break and the pins would fall out making them completely useless for my needs. Also, the pins bend fairly easily compared to other connectors I've used.

Okay, first of all people need to understand that they are basically designed to mount chips on a prototyping board (or even PCB). They are much better than single chip sockets because they 1) are very well machined and make good contact and 2) keep the chip out of the circuit while leaving enough room to run wires between the pins, 3) they are much more convenient to be built according to the number of contacts. These pens came in a paper envelope with no pad. Most pins were bent. The pins themselves are very roughly textured and don't slide smoothly into other round sockets. The end of the nest varies greatly in diameter, leaving some nests loose and others too tight. They are also often off-center. Worse, the pens have a fake gold tint that's already turning GREEN.
