Sling Media SB370 100 Slingbox M1 Review

I've been using Slingbox for many years - upgraded to M1 a few months ago and everything has been great. until yesterday when banner ads were turned on. It now takes up a lot of space in the player app, and not only that, the ads are animated and highly distracting while watching the show. It's not what I paid for, and adding this 'feature' after the fact is dubious at best, stupid to the extreme, as their sales will drop like a rock as a result. Until this ad is removed I cannot recommend this product to anyone. The ads are huge and take up a lot of space. Slingmedia has gone insane and I hope they find it and get rid of this ad otherwise it's a good product. However, I will absolutely not endorse this product in its current state. I'm sick of this ad-driven world where everything has to be sponsored or full of ads and product placement, and now even my Slingbox isn't immune to it. That's ridiculous.

They forced you to use the desktop app. so they can run TWO big ads that can't be turned off. They have removed M1 from the web interface so no ads are blocked. The old (ad-free) Slingplayer desktop app I've been using for years won't let you connect to the M1. If you want a phone (phablet) app. You have to pay 15 dollars. Then if you want it (on the SAME ACCOUNT), say on a Nexus 7. you have to PAY again for the TABLET app - another $15. Even apps for phones and tablets have ads. ironically a…
