Exactly what I was looking for.

Use this to power a small circuit from my apartment's doorbell transformer with about 20VAC. It seems to be working fine, no complaints.

Pros
  • Permanent Test Results
Cons
  • Secret

Thermostat USB power supply

use to supply 5V DC power. Power to a smart home tablet I mounted on the wall above the thermostat. Works perfectly. Does exactly what it says. Converts 24VAC thermostat power to 5VDC.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • compatibility

Non-Isolated - Power Converter

Works but make sure you understand that it is not an isolated circuit so its use is somewhat limited. Want to turn on RPI from a doorbell transformer? Relax. Just don't connect the Pi to anything connected to ground.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Good but not great

Good but not isolated so won't work for me

I am installing this in a system where I mix two different ground side voltages. For this I need an isolated power supply and it is not isolated. It's good that I checked with a multimeter before connecting, otherwise I would have burned out my electronics.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Convert outdoor landscape lighting to USB. Brilliant!

This worked great to convert Malibu's 12v AC outdoor landscape lighting to 5v DC (standard USB) allowing me to hook up some fabulous greenhouse lighting. It worked wonderfully. Just had to connect the cables. If they plugged a USB jack into an outlet, they could sell it for three times the price.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Works like a champ!

Used to power RING Central Alarm keypads. The wiring from the old system was there but was 12v so I reused the wires but connected them from the 20v supply to the doorbell and got a stable 5v. Have been using for 6 months with no problems. FYI, one block feeds two keyboards. I'm thinking about buying a second set to experiment with a signaling base station. If it provides enough power, I can ditch the 120V plug-in transformer and wall mount it in place of the old system speaker.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • High Price

Useful for outdoor lighting projects

I have some stylish LED solar garden lights that are no longer working. I can't just run them on the low 12V AC I have due to the low reverse voltage of the LEDs. Also, light sensors tend to interfere with each other (when one is on, it emits enough light to turn off the other). I bought a couple of these as handy DC supplies and with a quenching resistor and some solder I can light garden lights and control them from a 12v AC source.

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • Has flaws

The supply does not appear to be isolated.

I bought this to power the raspberry pi from a 24VAC power signal from the air conditioner. I've used parts like this before and they're definitely good quality. Casting the circuits (by encapsulating them in liquid epoxy or something similar) ensures they are virtually immune to things like vibration and pinching. Note that this circuit does not appear to be isolated. It powered the Raspberry Pi, but I noticed tingling when I touched the USB connectors. I thought it was ok for a floating…

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • Weight

Seems to work for my weird app

I tend to complicate some projects by trying to find a "unique" solution. In this case I wanted to wall mount the iPad Mini so I could use it as a convenient hotspot to control my security camera app and check the chemical levels in my hot tub via the pHin app. Instead of being a "normal" person and pulling the iPad out of the mounting plate when it needs to be charged, I decided to keep the device powered by running cables. inside the wall. Since I'm not "normal" I didn't just use the standard

Pros
  • . Absolute legend
Cons
  • The list is getting long.
