Perfect design if you install it right!

Perfect fit! Anyone who says it doesn't fit right is wrong. You must remove the loose strap rings from the camera. Then remove the hex screw from the corner of the cage. After placing the cage on the camera, tighten the bottom screw and then reattach the hex screw by throwing in the strap anchor. This prevents the cage from twisting on the lower mounting screw. Perfectly designed!

    Nice cage for my A6600!

Great cage that really enhances my A6600! durable yet lightweight! lots of ports, i just wish it had some kind of bracket on the sides and the side of the cage was a bit farther from the camera body because when i try to fit a nato rail on the side it blocks the headphone jack , hdmi and usb. ports, but you can build a good setup to solve this problem. I also bought a pen for this and it really helps. better than UURig for sure!

Great camera cage! I want to give it a 5 star rating

First let me say this is a great camera cage from SMALLRIG. It is very attractive, well designed and reasonably priced. My only issue is that it was missing the small M2.5 screw needed to fully mount the a6600 to the camera frame. While that's not a big deal since the larger 1/4-inch-20 screw on the bottom keeps the camera from moving out of the cage, it's still enough for me to knock the star off.

Great accessory for professional video equipment

First, I'm no pro - the Sony A6600 it was installed on is by far the most expensive camera I've ever bought. That's partly why I wanted something powerful around him to protect him from harm. Also, I knew that this particular camera wouldn't work well for video without moving the mic mount shoe - which this cage does for me. I also found it useful to keep the quick release tripod mount on the side and bottom for quick alignment changes. Excellent accessory, very happy with the purchase and will

Below is no Arca-Swiss adapter :(

I bought this item to have a more reliable connection to my tripod for photography and I was very disappointed when the device didn't have an Arca-Swiss connection built in the bottom I had a Smallrig L-Bracket for my A6000 and it had Arca Swissplate connections on the bottom and side but this one didn't have either As I said, it fits the camera perfectly and really adds a lot Added port compatibility for things like mics, grips, rails, etc. I'll be the first to buy.

Very well made and very comfortable

Rock hard and very well made. Can be a daunting task for the A6600 for the first few uses. Just be aware of the camera strap loops, they don't need to be removed but can get in the way when putting on this cage. In most cases you will have to remove the lens to put it on. So practice the installation in a quiet place first or leave it on after installation. One obvious use for this is to move the microphone away from the flip screen. Note, however, that the cage bar that runs along the top of…

Customer service is a joke (Lacey)

One star for customer service and quality control, not the product itself. My cage arrived on December 20th and I noticed a lack of equipment. I contacted smallrig and they responded within 48 hours as per Revain policy. Lacy asked for photos for some reason so she could see what I was talking about. I sent a reply with photos within an hour. It's been a week with no response, I emailed her with no response. So basically if you have problems with Smallrig, resolve your sol after purchase…

    • So-so

Many consumers report that the cell is blocking the battery compartment. This is partly true, because if the camera is placed correctly in the cage, as the average consumer would, there is a significant chance that the portion of the cage once installed will block the opening of the battery door. I've since found that it's pretty much down to the cage, which only relies on two points of contact with the camera to attach it to the frame. With two points of contact, there's room for error when it

Sony A6600 Smallrig cage purchased March 2021

Great quality and design as usual from Smallrig. To be honest I bought this more than anything else for added protection. $45 is a small price for something as expensive as the A6600. However, the additional flexibility in the assembly area is a real feature. While I don't necessarily fully kit out my A6600 (bought it for portability after all), if I want to too I can throw a GoPro at it for POV, which is probably what I'll be doing with it. For the price you can't go wrong with this accessory,
