Description of ๐Ÿ” Compact SMALLRIG Universal Lens Support with 15mm LWS Rod Clamp - Perfect for 50mm to 140mm Lenses - Product Code: 1784

SMALLRIG Universal Lens Support with 15mm LWS Rod Clamp 1784 mounts on standard LWS-spaced 15mm rods and is designed to take much of the weight of heavier lens off the camera's lens mount. SMALLRIG Universal Lens Support provides physical support for long lens, thus relieving the potentially damaging pressure on the camera's lens mount. When connected to a cinema lens's support foot or a still photo lens's tripod collar, the lens support removes the weight stress from the camera's lens mount. Composed of lightweight aluminum, the lens support has a vertically adjustable bracket so it can accommodate 50-140mm lens diameters. The rod clamp part is compatible with any standard 15mm LWS rig.

Gets the job done - lens accessories

Works great with 15mm small rig rods. Everything closes well and tight, and it does its job of relieving general tension. The main downside is that if you want to put your rig on the ground, the vertical length of the support can make it impossible depending on how close your rods are to the lens, so keep that in mind.

Pros
  • Perfect for a small home
Cons
  • Lots of things

Heavy for commercial quality

Sturdy and strong, definitely commercial support for large heavy lenses. Not for lighter smaller lenses. I didn't like that you need pliers to tighten the lens support adjustment screw. By tightening with your fingers, you can move the support arm. Also, this lens mount is a bit bulky and heavy, adding weight to your rig. Aluminum would be the best material of choice.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Fine

Good product. I want to measure first.

*Disclaimer* I bought this without measuring it first. The product is well made, nothing to complain about, but I wish I had measured it instead of buying it. I have two cameras, both have battery holders and it's not enough to reach the lens, so I used it on a lens tripod to support it. In conclusion, if you have a camera with a battery holder, be careful.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Poor instructions

Supports a heavy lens on any camera

This little thing perfectly supports a heavy lens on any camera. I've used it to support heavy Nikon and Sigma lenses on Sony A6100 and Nikon D750 cameras (lenses ranged from 30mm F1.4 to heavier 70-200mm F2.8 lenses. It doesn't interfere with the Focus, zoom and simply gives you great performance. Remember to take the stress off your camera's lens mounting ring.

Pros
  • Best of its kind
Cons
  • Expensive

Great product at a great price

I love this lens stand. I use it for my Sigma 18-35 on my bmpcc. It's very durable and the price was good compared to a few more expensive versions I've seen that looked like they would do the same. You can't go wrong with this and it gives you extra confidence when using your rig, especially with a lens you like and if you plan to run and shoot or mount your rig.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Communication with seller

Starting point for tele support

Combine this with a camera mounting plate, tripod mount and some 15mm rods and you have a fairly stiff and light base for an old telephoto MFT body. Nicer and more adjustable than a specific steel brace that I also have. The adjustments seem to be holding up. I just wish there was something that could slip it over the lens to hold it in place. Maybe I'll use a rubber band. Seems to have done very well

Pros
  • Alright!
Cons
  • Hard to say

Great product but you'll probably want the shorter version

This is another quality product from Smallrig. While most of their products have a beautiful look and finish, they vary. This is one of the trendiest (new?) units. I can't help but think roller skates would have been better, but I see that it can have its downsides. True, this support is very long. In my setup it sticks out between the rails and protrudes too much from the bottom. That bothers me with my mounting plate on the tripod head. I had to measure and purchase the short that is offered.

Pros
  • Accessories
Cons
  • Big and chunky

I love the flexibility of this lens holder. Yes, it does feel a bit unwieldy and I doubt I'll be using the full vertical adjustment, but the underside of the Y-piece also acts as a support to keep the end of your rails off the ground. Good build quality and I really do too, for example the two slots cut into the top of the Y-piece brackets allow the use of two Velcro straps to attach the lens barrel to the mount. Make sure you use two velcro straps, not one, with the seams at top dead centerโ€ฆ

Pros
  • lens holder
Cons
  • Doubtful
