SmithCOCO Breakaway Trailer Stainless Spring Review

Installed one of these on my caravan for emergency braking. Works perfectly. Now I can't drag the cord across the floor unless I wrap it around something to cut off the extra length.

Works much better than my original straight cable on my dump trailer. It's easy to replace. The color also makes it easy to remember to hook and unhook. Definitely a good price and functionality. I would buy again if needed for my other trailers.

I used one on my fifth wheel where the sag could catch on objects in the back of my truck. Works perfectly. I put another on my car trailer that I used to tie the extra cord. The ring was a bit difficult to install on my fifth wheel breakaway piston, but I put it on and didn't have to bother with it for long.

I used this good quality coiled cable to replace the original non-coiled cable that was causing the kill switch to apply the trailer brakes when it became tangled in my fifth wheel. The coiled cord prevents tangling. Stainless steel components ensure durability of this cable assembly.

When the order came I was convinced it was nothing more than a plastic coil. I needed to know, so I cut off the end behind the pleated cap (not as easy as it sounds). There is a metal cord covered in a very thick vinyl sheath. This is a great product that will save you the heartache of a broken cord from dragging on the floor!

I like this a lot better than what was originally in the trailer. Has an ideal stretch range and I'm glad I went with the 6ft option. It's the perfect length, when plugged in it doesn't drag across the ground and when I need to make tight turns it stretches without relieving tension on the safety brake. ALSO the clip that comes with the hooks on your truck is very strong.
