Description of ๐Ÿ–ค Smooth Cast Onyx Fast Black Liquid Plastic Casting Resin - Trial Unit: Superior Quality and Quick Setting Result

Convenient if you desire a black casting, adding color pigment is not necessary (can be polished and buffed to a high gloss shine). Unlike other black resins, ONYX does not contain mercury. Great for my creativity Good for crafts

Definitely not for beginners. With a pot life of 2 minutes you really should be 100% ready to pour. I have found that this resin only mixes properly in cups made from certain plastics. Some plastics will make the resin bubble and boil. It also gets quite hot during the 10-minute cycle, so don't apply it to bare skin or hold the mixing bowl after pouring it, especially if there's anything left in it.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Not sure

Prepare for casting

Smooth Onyx Casting (Quick) is not for beginners, this version requires little training. The directions for use are simple 1:1 ratio but you want to make sure you have everything ready and prepared, when you mix "A" and "B" it starts to harden very quickly. Heats up quickly and feels higher than other casting materials, so I don't recommend touching it while it's curing; just let him do his thing.

Pros
  • Easy Installation
Cons
  • Rough

OMG, you better move faster!

This is the fastest cure and pot life I have ever used. In any case, do not follow the manufacturer's recommendations, as this is not correct. You have about 30 seconds of vitality. Shuffle better and move fast! Make sure your mold is ready and don't mix it up too much. I've tried everything from the recommended mix to using less catalyst and no matter what, it starts to thicken very quickly. Although the finish of this resin is very nice. Black is a beautiful deep color. I like the finishedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Expensive

Solid material - requires respect

You need to mix the ingredients really well beforehand or you won't get a good cure. You must be able to work quickly and mix FULL time according to the manufacturer's instructions. Don't start with your final design. Start testing. Plan to donate at least two 50mL casts to test and study material behavior. People complain that it runs out quickly - Smoothon sells a small canister of heavy/dry inert gas that can be sprayed onto cylinders and stored (probably an argon mix or something). I can'tโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Handy if you want a black cast, no color pigment required (can be polished and sanded to a high luster)
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Durable but cumbersome to use

This resin cures quickly as advertised. So only use a moderate amount at a time or it will quickly get hot and hard when you pour it out of the mixing container. When not using this product, please be careful. It was also difficult for me to judge the mixture of Resin A and B. The dark color optically conceals the chemical process. As a result, after casting, I found unmixed remains in my molds (attached is a photo of picturesque stones, not shit). Be careful with Part B. It will leave a blackโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Unlike other black resins, ONYX contains no mercury
Cons
  • High price

I like the final material. It compares well to any mass-produced device made out of high quality black plastic. However, my first try taught me that I should use a timer. [cm. image] I stirred, no problem, still runny. I stopped stirring, took the mold and poured it in. Hm. It would be no. It solidified in the time it took me to absorb the shape right in front of me. Set a timer and don't pull it out. When the expiration date ends, it does not become sticky; it's gonna be hard It feels very hot

Pros
  • Shore 80D
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
