Best $15 I've spent on a toy

We bought this as a very early introduction to electricity for our 3 year old. There are enough parts to make it interesting without being overwhelming. The cool glowing elements and moving parts dazzled him and are still exciting after a few weeks. The parts are strong enough to play with. I love the picture clues so young pre-readers can build them themselves - my child is too young for this but I think a 4 or 5 year old would do just fine. I highly recommend this set.

Pros
  • Great for me

  • Definitely a bad product

Quality Fun!: Learning and Education

Perfect for the six year old who used to disassemble toys and anything with wires to make their own creations! No wires or instructions to read, just follow the pictures or experiment for yourself. No wires to connect, durable parts just snap on. Two switches (one flip, one button), three light elements, rotating paddles and a sound element. 21 combinations to build. Gave it to him yesterday morning and he could hardly stop eating while eating. Played with it again today. I will definitely be…

LONG-TERM INTEREST

A superb set with real toy durability. One of those toys that just keeps going. I am very, very impressed with how much fun this is for my 5 year old AND my 3 year old. 5'he can work on projects from the manual himself because it is so well written and illustrated. 3' is working with him because she still needs help translating the artwork for the creation. As an engineer, I was concerned that if left alone they might do something that might damage the product, and I'm pleasantly surprised that

6 years likes it! But the beep is torture.

My 6 year old nephew loves it. Months later he still plays with it for hours. The perfect starter kit at a great price. The instructions are child-friendly and easy to understand. They are like Lego instructions with detailed step-by-step illustrations and the projects get progressively more difficult making it easy for kids to learn. I would give it 5 stars if the beep wasn't absolute adult torture. I didn't realize it was loud when I bought it and I don't usually have a problem with it. But…

IMMEDIATE HIT on our 6 and 10 year olds

I sent this set direct to my son for his almost 7 year old son. I also sent a large set for his 10 year old son. They opened the kits shortly after delivery. My son just called me and said both kits are a huge hit. The guys immediately threw themselves into the projects and have already done several. My son also enjoyed building some projects! Thank you Elenco for making these educational yet fun kits affordable, especially when children and parents are staying home most of the time during the…

Preschoolers should have this at school

4.5 year old son loved it. I immediately bought another set. We help him with the diagram, but actually he's pretty good at reading the picture instructions after we've done a few projects together. He took it to his PreK class to share and returned home without a few details. I've just been to the manufacturing facility and it looks like you can get free replacement parts. How cool is that? I really hope I get it in the mail. My husband and I are very happy with this type of toy and my son is…

Nice little set, minimal skill required to use as a teaching tool.

My daughter loved it! She is 4.5 years old and I use her to explain what electricity is, how it works and what it is used for. This is a great and fun way to put electronics basics into practice. A few things to mention here: The instructions are just that. Instructions. They show you what to do, like a Lego book. For $30 it would be nice to have some sort of explanation of what exactly each lesson or project expresses. As long as I can explain it to her, it doesn't really matter to me, but…
