Ordered a scratching post for the shabbiest corner of the sofa. We didn't use catnip on the scratching post because the cats (all males) got used to the scratching post straight away. UPDATE 07/25/2020: We now have four of these sofa scratching posts. (I have four couches and too many cats). I haven't had any functional problems. My sofa has never felt uneven due to the acrylic base. None of the acrylic feet have ever broken when I've placed my furniture on them and then sat on them - all the feet have remained intact.
