14K Solid Yellow Gold Lobster Clasp Jewelry - 8x3mm Review

The listing says "14k Solid Yellow Gold". The item received had a barcode label that said the same thing. The item itself is hallmarked '14/20 GF' indicating that this is not 14k gold but 97% brass with a 3% gold plating. Fake in short. This mislabeling is a violation of federal law (16 CFR 23.4(b)(2)). The first clasp I received was solid 14k gold. When I inspected the clasp I didn't think I needed to keep checking this product as all the clasps were in the same packaging with 14k solid gold markings. I bought 8 more and made a custom order. I've had calls from very angry customers saying the clasps were gold filled. I had to give people back several hundred dollars and get fasteners overnight to keep my customers happy. I read the reviews about it and I knew it was gold plated. Someone really liked it, and someone said it was cheap. I wore it one day and it broke. I learned it the hard way. I needed a new clasp for my medical bracelet. It was the right price so I figured it was an easy fix. I would not recommend this clasp. It's small, difficult to put on and didn't last more than a day.

I have a gold necklace that I have worn for almost 50 years. The clasp broke in 2018 and I bought this 14k gold clasp to replace it. Within 18 months the clasp corroded and broke causing my throat to turn green. I don't believe this clasp is 14k gold. The globs of green goo are corrosion I scraped off the clasp. I was about to buy 2 more when I saw the above review about someone looking through their jewelers loupe and finding the stamped 14/20 gold fill. Of course I got curious so I took out my magnifying glass and fasteners and sure enough they say the same thing!
