I was looking for a shelf with high sides to keep my shoes from falling off and this does the job perfectly. I hesitated a bit when I took the parts out of the box. They feel kind of cheap. Very easy assembly in less than 30 minutes. I bought two units for 8 shelves but only used 5. I took the longer top shelf handles and placed them on the bottom so my first shelf was taller and could fit in my shoes. In some rows four shoes fit, in others three, depending on the type of shoe. I wear a men's size 11. One problem is that the end pieces of the shelf are plastic and after inserting the long rods of the shelf I tapped them with a rubber mallet. This shoe rack is VERY light and easy to assemble. Each shelf holds four to five pairs of my size 9 women's shoes and about three pairs of my husband's size 13 men's shoes per shelf.
