This drive works perfectly. Since I bought it 3 months ago I've run out of racks and I burn around 10-20 DVDs and CDs a week. It's quiet, can burn dual-layer DVDs, and the included Nero software is very handy for those who don't already have burning software. Or even if you have the software, it's still very handy.

Many years after purchasing this drive I have had no problems. It's been over 15 years and it still works great! drive OK. Has problems burning DVD-R video discs. Despite the fact that the recording has completed successfully, DVD-R discs (several different high quality brands have been tested) do not read well with a temperamental DVD player. The same discs will record perfectly on another DVD burner.

I used this drive to replace a CD-ROM on my PC and now I have two DVD burners in my car, both Sony. I simply unplugged and removed the CD drive, plugged in and plugged back in the DRU-820A, turned on my computer and got to work. I have burned over twenty 16x DVDs since purchasing this drive last week and have had no problems. My other Sony DVD burner, the DRU-530A, has been running in my PC for two years now and is working perfectly, so I don't expect any reliability issues at this time.

I bought this to replace a broken drive. When I tried to install it, I found that it didn't work on my computer. I contacted the seller and they accepted it back and gave me a full refund. Would buy from them again.
