Exactly what I needed, it's a great buy, I recommend it.

do not spare money for a normal flash and a good lens: the quality of shots is half, if not more, dependent on the lens. I bought a carcass for 20,000. Has some pros: - Sony - swivel display (saves at concerts, for example, or shooting near the floor (children, kittens. ) - you don't have to scoff) - lack of video for me - plus: a camera is a camera, video is a video: and there is nothing to increase the price of the camera by adding this function - a cloud of settings (still not coped with…

The best thing Ive ever used, a great item for everyone!

I chose a camera for a very long time, initially I was aimed at the small size of the body (and after a lot of reviews that the DSLR is only for the pros, this is a very complex device, etc. , although I always wanted an alpha, I didn’t consider buying) after reading a ton of reviews and information from users from different forums, I bought a panasonic lx3 (tested for a couple of weeks) . It was crazy, the price tag was under 20 tons, it shoots at the level of soap dishes for 7-10 thousand, it

Pros
  • Ergonomics, dimensions (it is very comfortable in the hand), stylish high-quality case (stands out against the background of monotonous competitors). Really high-quality, large, and even a folding display. Sony has never even had anything to add about the interface, everything is very nice done. Price. Ideal in this price range.
Cons
  • for me personally - they are not in this device with its advantages and price.

The quality is at the highest level, be sure to try it.

Pros: Even with a budget lens, the image quality is good. The camera is simple and trouble-free to operate. Amazing realism pictures. The battery holds a charge well. With its cons. Too heavy for a woman (significant weight gain due to the movable LCD screen)

I do not cease to rejoice at the purchase, a very good deal!

Chose for 2 months. The main competitors are Canon EOS 550D, Nikon D5000. Nikon fell off first, as the oldest of the three, uncomfortable in the hand and with more limited equipment. Canon disappeared due to weak whale optics (I did not plan to buy more at the entrance), slow and stupid LiveView mode, non-rotating display and high cost. If we compare both models, then Canon loses in innovation that Sony has, and wins in the presence of video and a wide range of optics. One of the decisive…

Pros
  • 1. High speed operation (Bionz processor) 2. New Exmor Matrix 3. Best Live View on the market 4. Rotatable LCD display with 921,600 pixels 5. HDR mode 6. New kit lens is one of the best in class 7. Stabilizer Steady Shot Inside built into the body 8. 5-level dynamic range optimization mode 9. Rate of fire 7 fps 10. Long-lasting battery 11. Two slots for memory cards of various types (SD and MemoryStick)! 12. Manual focus check in Live View
Cons
  • - Lack of video recording mode, in the conditions of the present market it is worth considering - Expensive optics for Sony, less choice on the market - Sometimes gives out more red tint than necessary (easily corrected in Lightroom, PS)

The best thing for the money, Im glad I chose this option.

Excellent machine. As they say: "to the feast and to the world and to good people." Some pros: I have been photographing with this model since its release. Not once did she let me down. The colors are juicy, pleasing to the eye, continuous shooting is trouble-free and clear. I mainly take pictures with a 24-105mm lens and a Sigma 50/1.4 lens. The first use of a folding screen at a mass event left me completely delighted. When my fellow photographers swooped down on a group of people being…

A really necessary purchase, Im glad I found this product.

I aimed at the Canon 50d, looked at the Pentax K7 and Nikon d300, but when the a550 appeared, I decided to take it, since Sony in this case made it seem like a rating model, and not a marketing chip for making money - for a camera that just came out with a bunch of nice features, good build quality and excellent performance for its class, it is more than inexpensive. And by the way, we don’t have such extra charges for it as for canons and nikons - compare the prices in our market and on ebay…

Pros
  • Moderately large, most (although not all, like on pro models) functions are available with one touch, a unique Life-View mode, while maintaining focus on standard sensors, excellent colors even at 1600 ISO and quite tolerable noise level even when shooting in jpege. The flip screen is bright and allows you to shoot even with manual focus from any position, finding faces and smiles, zooming for precise manual focusing, 5 frames / s with focus on each frame and 7 with fixed focus - a real machine gun. Choosing a focus point is more convenient than a canon or nikon, an adequate price - with functionality and shooting quality higher than the Canon 50d, it costs 20% cheaper, I'm not talking about the small-pixel 550d By the way, the focusing speed is very pleasing, especially with normal lighting - literally a fraction of a second passes between pressing the shutter and the shutter. It also turns on very quickly - in fact, faster than I manage to move my finger from the power lever to the shutter button, and if the camera is in burst mode with focusing on each frame, then in order to miss some important frame, you have to be a complete brake.
Cons
  • There is no dust and moisture protection, but this is not a semi-pro. There is no autofocus backlight, but an external flash will solve this, besides, the light from a 40-watt light bulb under the cover is enough to focus confidently enough and even make out a smile for a self-timer. The viewfinder is a little dark, but for me personally, even with a whale lens, it’s enough for now, and with a fifty-fifty 1.4 it will be much brighter, and the live view compensates for this - in some cases, a folding screen is much better than even the coolest viewfinder.

A good product, I advise you to try it.

For beginners and advanced, this is a great choice. Get great pictures even when using a KIT. Anyone who shoots on AUTO and says that the shots are no better than a soap dish, I can advise such people not to spend money and still buy a soap dish. The high cost of lenses for sony cameras upsets. I advise you to take Carl Zeiss optics 16-80 for everyday use, the shots will be gorgeous.

Pros
  • Very good matrix. High speed shooting. Convenient menu. Not a bad KIT. LiveView with a movable display sometimes helps not to crawl on your belly :).
Cons
  • Loud curtain operation. The impact of the curtain is too strong, as a result, without a good tripod, "shake" often appears, when shooting at night it is very noticeable, you have to suffer to get good shots. Still upset overexposures. if you trust the automation in the A, P, AUTO mode, strong overexposure occurs in the bright sun. I conclude that the "crooked" firmware. If you shoot in RAW or shift the exposure to minus in advance, there is no such problem.

A good camera for anyone with Minolta lenses

Having had several Minolta lenses I found them to be a perfect match for this camera. Why? Konic bought Minolta in 2001 and then sold Sony's camera business in 2003. So on a whim I just bought the case. Voila! All my Minolta lenses fit perfectly. I like the clarity of the images and the sensitivity to light. Since it's only been 1 week, I'll have to take more photos for a more detailed opinion.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Bad guide

Excellent Camera Best Camera and Photo

After trying out the Sony A550 at a photo show I finally bought it. I have to say the Shutterbug seller is great. Fast delivery and brand new camera. I have been a Nikon user for many years and own many Nikons including the D90. This A550 has a sturdier build than the D90 and has a fold-out screen. Face detection and smile detection are amazing. . ISO noise is lower than D90 but very close. The color of the a550 is correct. I am very impressed with this Sony A550 and it is a fully featured…

Happy with the upgrade

I bought the Alpha 100 when they first came out. I knew new models would come out but 100 worked fine. I bought a Sony "G" 70-400 series zoom lens and it was too beautiful to fit in an old body. I read all the reviews on the new alphas and decided to stick with the 550. The new display and improvements are simply outstanding. Last weekend I went to the St. Johns River and took over 300 wildlife photos in two hours. I used a monopod purchased from Revain and it was a great combination. The…

One of the best non-professional cameras of the moment

I currently have a Konica Minolta Dimage A2 camera which was and still is a great little camera that I have used on many trips. I also have a Sony A100 SLR that I use with a Sony f8/500 telephoto lens. I did a lot of research and settled on the Sony A550 as the best for the money and with new features that really take my photography to the next level. I won't repeat what others have already covered, but I refer you to the February 9, 2010 review on this page. I also highly recommend Gary…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Pretty much everything is fine

Great camera with tons of features, BUT.

The Sony A550 has many good qualities that will make you want to buy it, especially at such a low price that Revain is offering. I bought one and was very excited, took hundreds of pictures. I like the style of landscape photography. Most of the pictures were taken near lakes, rivers, roads and mountains. I used a Minolta 50mm F1.7 Prime, Sony SAL-55200 and Sony SAL-1870 (I hardly use it because of the low IQ, I need a decent wide angle lens). I mostly use aperture priority. The features I like

  • Easy to read control panel
