I am amazed at how well the product is made, just magically!

Has pros: It is compact, solidly looks both separately, and complete with the camera. Practically provides the functionality of both the whale lens of my former SONY A-37 camera, and the telephoto TAMRON. The presence of a hard case in the kit is a nice and useful plus. The hard metal body of the adapter is thoughtfully provided with a threaded socket for a tripod. Cons: The presence of a translucent mirror reduces the actual aperture of the lens, I would prefer the adapter to provide…

Great for adapting A-mount to E-mount A7III

I'm so glad they made a good adapter so I can use my APC A-mount lens on my new one Sony A7III can fully use frame. I'm a little bulky, but all the features of an A-mount lens work great. The mounting hole helps reduce stress from the electronic mount of the camera body. A third-party APC A-mount lens is not automatically recognized by my A7III, so I just manually select the APC mode. The cost is a bit expensive. Sony could make it more affordable for all of its loyal Sony A-mount customers who

Great for adapting A-mount lenses (eg Minolta)

I've recently returned to film photography. I bought some 30 year old Minolta AF A-mount lenses for my old Minolta SLR. I used some nice, high quality Minolta lenses. The natural step was to use them on my Sony A6500. This adapter is exactly what I needed for it. He has a screwdriver so he can autofocus Minolta lenses. As far as I know, LA-EA3 doesn't do that. I tested it with my Minolta AF 85mm lens and compared it with my Sony 85mm lens. Of course with a Minolta lens there is more chasing…

Warning: not required for video

Trying to use it with Sony DT 35mm f1.8 A-mount lens on Sony a6000. I didn't see any problems with photos, but it doesn't actually work very well with videos: only P mode (software auto) is possible, not A or M (manual mode, which I needed). That means you can't even change the shutter speed. Also, the only aperture it works with when shooting video is f3.5. So it's basically useless if you plan to record videos with it. Of course you can switch the A-mount lens to manual (switch lens on), then

Note the difference between LA-EA3 and LA-EA4 and when to use both.

If you use a Sony E-mount and want to mount your old Minolta/Sony A-mount screw drive lenses, this is for you. Read on below if you want to know when is the best time to use the LA-EA3. This adapter has an autofocus sensor and a screw drive in one housing. Keep in mind that it replaces your normal camera autofocus system, so you don't get the same speed and score as the native lens. This is because older non-SSM lenses didn't have an internal motor and required a motor on the camera (or an…

Pros
  • Lens Accessories
Cons
  • Almost OK

As you can see from the description, this adapter is used to connect A-mount lenses to Sony E-mount. So aperture 2.8 becomes 3.x. Mmm, no big deal. The autofocus is based on contrast detection (identical to the first generation A99 autofocus). Everything is OK. A bit slow by today's standards. Although I use it for the A7SII, which has an autofocus up to EV-4, it's a pity that only EV-0 or -1 can do this focus. If you already have A-mount lenses and now have an E-mount camera (like the Alpha…

It works, but for how long and at what cost?

This year I added an a7R and a box full of (literally) Minoltas (d7, 5000, 7000, 9000 etc.) to my A77 and could only jump for a Zeiss 55 1.8. This lens is nothing short of spectacular, but I wanted to use some of my old favorite AF lenses from the Maxxum era on the new sensor. I have a dozen classic prime lenses that work great with adapters (Canon, Konica, Kiron, Voightlander, Minolta, and Nikon), but sometimes it can be useful to have autofocus. I wasn't impressed with the new FE zooms (per…
