PERFECT FOR SELF RECORDING

I bought this remote so I could record by myself without having to get on and off to set up the recording and turn it on and off. I REALLY LOVE THIS CONTROL! Snapshot management is also a big plus. I also really appreciate being able to turn the camcorder on and off with it. The zoom has two nice, smooth speeds depending on how hard you press: light press = slow press, firm press = fast zoom. If the video camera screen is upside down, I can use this control and see what it does. The big plus is

Good product but why not a wireless remote control?

This product really fills the need. I don't understand why the wireless remote control has been left out of a feature on virtually all new camcorders when such features were readily available on camcorders over a decade ago. I had an old Sony Hi-8 camcorder from 1998 that needed replacing. This camcorder was purchased in 1998 and had a wireless remote control. Good luck finding that feature today. So you need to get a "wired remote" to connect. I found "wireless remote control" to be a feature…

Love and hate!

It works pretty well and I don't really have many problems with it, but I think I should say a few words about the usage. The 2-level zoom is really comfortable and smooth to use. It holds up well and doesn't move. The clamp opens very wide and will fit almost any tripod you have. I have problems; The connector is an old round connector that doesn't fit any of the newer cameras - hey SONY - upgrade it! You have to buy an adapter which is expensive and bulky. Also, the record button is in the…

good product even better now that it's on sale

Ordered this from AMAZON earlier this week along with the SONY GP-AVT1 grip for our SONY camcorder. My wife loves the grip, she says it's pretty much all she needs for more stable handheld shooting. I prefer using a tripod with a moving head and have found that using the controls on the camera can result in unwanted video movement. SONY RM-AV2 solves this problem perfectly. Connection to the camcorder is via a proprietary connection that is reliable and secure, and so far there have been no…

Why doesn't Sony make that clearer with the VG-20?

I wish I had heard about this accessory a year and a half ago when I bought a Sony NEX VG-20 camcorder. All I read about remote controls was that the wired remote requires a LANC connection, which the VG-20 doesn't have. I had no idea what the use of the "A/VR" port on the side of the camera was. Anyway, I recently found out about this item and read somewhere that it was used with the VG-20. For such a small investment I figured it was worth a try. It arrived today, I attached the tripod head…
