Great lens! You get what you pay for

I had the opportunity to compare with Tamron and Sigma. It's worth the price! Just a friendly reminder, if you're using an entry-level camera like the Sony A380 or newer, this lens is overkill. a $700 lens like the Sigma or Tamron is enough. If you're using a high-end camera, especially a full-frame camera like the Sony A850 and up, this lens will give you an absolute edge over all other lenses!

Amazing reliable option with great results

This lens is really amazing, can't decide if I like this better or the 24-70 f2.8 Zeiss but they are both really worthy deals allow you to take incredible pictures. If you use the right technique to hold such a heavy lens, you can get sharp photos with beautiful bokeh. This lens is best suited to full-frame cameras, but it delivers excellent image resolution on a crop sensor, just like the A77ii. The only downside I would give this lens is how short the tripod collar is compared to some other…

Great lens good for lenses

Great lens. Bought used but in new condition. I'm not sure I would have dared to buy it new at full price. However, I took some photos of my grandson's performance last week and since he was standing in the back with the other baritone players, the photos of the band members in the front row, the sax players, were better and clearer. , more detailed, better focused. I figured there were lenses out there that cost 40x what I paid for this lens that would have taken better photos of the grandson…

I love this lens! SLR lenses

The pictures you can take with this lens and in combination with the Sony SAL-20TC 2.0x teleconverter and the Sony SLT-A65V are simply amazing. This lens made for great photos of the New Year's Eve fireworks at Walt Disney World from the balcony of a building at Polynesia Resort in Hawaii. Significantly better than the same photos taken with the standard 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. From the same balcony I was able to photograph Cinderella Castle in daylight, with the streaks of light adorning the…

Its worth it. in Camera & Photo

This lens is worth every penny. It is sharp in all foci, even wide open. But this lens is not for a marathon. It tends to get a bit heavy after a few hours. I train and even I get a little hard after a while. Other than that, I think it's just a great all-round lens. I use it for all types of recordings I make. This is a great portrait lens that allows me to zoom in on a subject without knowing how close it is. It makes for some really memorable shots and close-ups. At f/2.8 and the right…

The most accurate focusing lens I've ever had!

This is one of the two most difficult lens classes alongside the 24-70mm class. You either turn to a third party to save money, or you go all in and get the best money can buy. Well I've done both. Honestly, I'm glad I did it. Otherwise I wouldn't know I got the winner in the Sony version. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this lens is the best. Both sides have strengths and weaknesses. I have this lens and a Tamron 70-200mm F2.8 lens. Both give you amazing pictures. Tamron has the edge in…

No surprises with lenses

This lens meets the advertised specifications. The build quality is fantastic. It's super fast and quiet. And of course, like everyone else, quite heavy. As a hobby photographer, it took me a long time to muster up the courage (and money) to buy this lens, but I have no regrets. I suffered for years photographing my son's budget hockey teams. Telephoto lens I've spent hours post-processing photos to make them brighter, improve contrast and to be honest I've thrown away more than half of what…

Excellent lens in Lenses

Overall this lens performs well and I think it's worth the money, if not perfect. Here are some of the key features of the lens: Mechanics/body: Very high quality metal with little plastic, very smooth zoom and auto-clutch focus control. This lens is smoother than all Zeiss lenses in this regard and has 3 focus hold buttons instead of the usual ones. One really nice thing about this lens is that the zoom is entirely internal, so it doesn't extend to ridiculous lengths like most telephoto…

Solid pro-quality lens

Here's another item that beats the competition, but is it worth the extra cost? Sigma no longer makes the 70-200mm f2.8 without IS and there is a version with lens IS for $1400 and I don't think it makes a difference to us Sony users. I don't have any empirical evidence that lens stabilization doesn't add anything if you have body stabilization as I couldn't find anything written about it and it would be technically pointless for them to work together to reduce vibration even further from the…
