I must have been lucky with their initial placement as the soundstage was perfect the first time around, easily filling the entire width of the TV screen. I bought these with a 10" subwoofer to replace my 80's stereo. The sound quality is excellent, the mids are clear and punchy, I think these speakers would be good even without a subwoofer, but sometimes I want to feel that bass.
