Bought on SALE: Speakers

I wanted this because I live in an apartment and I don't want to annoy my neighbors with deep bass like other brands in this price range. The sound is crisp and clear. The workmanship is very nice and looks great. Compared to other units at normal daily rates I would rate this 3 stars out of 5. Again, it suited my needs and buying it during Prime Days was a steal. If I had to pay full MSRP I would buy a different brand. I use it for gaming, TV, movies and music. Ideal for apartments and…

Sony SSCS3 in bookshelf speakers

I'm very happy with the fronts of a 5.1 home cinema system. I must have been lucky with their initial placement as the soundstage was perfect the first time around, easily filling the entire width of the TV screen. These speakers are exceptionally good in the mids and highs, and even the TV dialogue has been improved so much that dialogue enhancement is now almost always disabled. I also think the bass coming from them is excellent, but the SVS subwoofer helps. These are probably the best…

AMAZING good for speakers

Let me be short and sweet. I currently have a real Adcom GFA-5802 amplifier, GFP-750 preamp, new Sony HAP-1Zes music streamer, Teac TN-400 turntable all feeding Thiel CS2.3 speakers and an SVS subwoofer . I had speakers from Definitive Technology, NAD, Rotel. I'm trying to put together a college graduation gift for my son who loves music and wanted the best I could buy for around $2,000 for everything. I was beyond skeptical about these Sony SSCS3 speakers and now have a pair of Definitive…

Excellent sound quality

I bought these with a 10" subwoofer to replace my 80's stereo. The sound quality is excellent, the mids are clear and punchy, I think these speakers would be good even without a subwoofer, but sometimes I want to feel that bass. I really want to emphasize how amazing the mids are present on these speakers. My old system was bidirectional and looking back I can see how it boosted the bass. and highs, but left the mids to the woofer. I really feel like listening to these speakers is less…

I'm not exactly an audiophile

Okay, so take what you want. I have no education in audio engineering. I don't prefer to listen to my music on vinyl. Basically, I bought these speakers so that when I'm sipping my gin and tonic and listening to blues music, the volume can ramp up at the same pace as my intoxication. Other than that, I love these speakers. I connected them to a Sony home theater amplifier. The amplifier has a maximum output of 145 watts per speaker, which is ideal for the 145 watt maximum output of these…
