Sony TCM 400DV Pressman Standard Cassette Review

I've been buying small tape recorders since they were invented. I use them in music lessons for myself and my students. The price is great. The ability to change the speed in a variety of ways is a huge plus. They lasted longer than anything I've ever had. I've bought dozens of these over the years.

For those of us who still use cartridges, this is a neat little machine. The best thing about this particular device is the dial to slow down or speed up playback. Ideal for listening to audio books this way as books are read a little faster. On the other hand, I miss such attention. Only 1 minus. . . not heavily built. Short fall and plastic parts break and fly. I understand my guilt, but without me. Very minor in the scheme of things as it works well and as advertised.

I bought several of these two years ago and my students use them all the time in class. And my journalism and English students use them to record interviews. While this is not an audiophile recording (there is some hum due to the built-in microphone), the quality is very good. As I write this review, I listen to the recording and hear every word of the interview clearly, both from the interviewer and the interviewee. So ultimately, this recorder does whatever I want it to do. In addition, there
