As a professional videographer, I LOVE these devices (I have seven). They are portable and have become a reliable helper for me at many events. I've noticed that the images written to them appear to have a bit more contrast than the original AVI files (originals burned to a computer via firewire), but they look great on TV. I only use them to capture live DVDs via the composite or firewire inputs. both have been reliable to me and it automatically recovers when the firewire signal from the…

Non-technical figured it out and is very satisfied

I'm a teacher and not very techy and I love this product. I needed to convert my extensive library of VHS study material to DVD format. This product works great. There are only a couple of points I could add that I didn't see in the reviews I've read. It's pretty basic, but I like "toys" so it's easier when you're used to "toys". I've done about half of my tapes, I like to stand by and watch what's being recorded (not that you have to) so it takes me a little longer. After the initial setup, just insert a blank DVD and press a few buttons, no…

Very convenient; Compact size; easy DVD creation

I'm completely satisfied with DVDirect. I bought it for a 16 day vacation in Europe to be able to back up my videos and photos. An added bonus was that when I got home my video was already on DVD and ready to play. :) The DVDirect is lightweight and compact, so it fits nicely in my suitcase. After reading how to connect my camcorder to DVDirect (which is easy), the device explained to me the remaining steps, which are few and simple. For video, this worked great for my purposes as my camcorder…
