Description of Soundbar Sonos Beam Gen2 black

Sonos Beam Gen2 is suitable for watching movies, playing games and of course listening to music. One of the important innovations compared to the first version is support for the Dolby Atmos standard. Sonos Beam can be not only an excellent soundbar, but also a good addition to the company''s product ecosystem, because it supports more than 100 different streaming services. Beam 2 received 3D support - sound with Dolby Atmos. With such an “amplification”, watching a movie will become even more interesting, because you will hear planes and helicopters flying out from behind, shots and explosions somewhere in the distance – all this provides maximum immersion. Also, Sonos experts have worked on the sound. They claim improvements for the same device size. The bottom line is that Beam (Gen 2) has received a new processor, as well as a specially designed phased array speakers inside the soundbar, which directs and localizes sound, providing realistic sound in any part of the room. Sonos Beam (Gen 2) received support for HDMI eARC connector, like another Sonos Arc soundbar. It is also worth noting the simplicity and ease of use from the first start. Everything, as always, works through the proprietary Sonos application. At the same time, the initial setup can be done in a matter of minutes using two cables and NFC technology. For her, just bring the phone with NFC to the Beam. Like all Sonos products, Beam has been carefully tuned with the support of Sonos Soundboard, a team of top producers and sound designers in the music and film industry, to ensure that the soundbar plays audio content exactly as its creator intended. You can also customize the Beam with Trueplay technology, which adapts the speaker''s sound to wall and furniture reflections, constantly optimizing your listening experience based on room conditions. The Beam is easily controlled using the proprietary Sonos app, TV remote control, Apple AirPlay 2, voice assistants ( does not work in Russia) or applications of music streaming services. Listeners can upgrade the Beam with a wireless subwoofer and a pair of rear speakers to create a complete home theater system (subwoofer and rear speakers sold separately). Everything in the purchase suits, a very necessary product.

TV - Plasma Panasonic 2022, player - Mibox S. The sound goes directly from the player to the soundbar through optics. Dolby Atmos does not work with this connection. It turns out that Beam gen2 bought with a reserve for the future. Now I ordered an HDMI extractor - with this device, the sound on the soundbar should go both from the set-top box and from the PS4 connected via TV. Well, and, perhaps, it will be possible to hear the sound in Dolby Atmos format. But it is not exactly))

Pros
  • Watching movies at home has become much more interesting. Still, the sound when watching a movie is as important as the picture. The sound is such that the absence of a separate subwoofer is not particularly noticeable. Those. With the main task of voicing a movie, this soundbar does an excellent job. You can also listen to music (from Ya. Muzyki, Apple Music). I don’t listen loudly - in a 9-storey building I don’t want to spoil the mood of my neighbors.
Cons
  • Only one HDMI connector, in my version there are some connection restrictions.

Not my best purchase, you could have found something else.

the paradox is that I don't like this soundbar. too much it depends on the source, in some places the sound resembles the built-in TV, in some places it resembles a full-fledged 5.1. there is an important caveat. I love volume in movies where the voice on the screen sounds about the same as if this person were talking to me in the room. but if you prefer it louder, like in a cinema, so that the direct sound of the movie muffles everything around, then you will like this soundbar more than I…

Pros
  • beautiful packaging, he is beautiful and heavy, it feels nice. overall control is convenient. sounds good in places. I would even say that in films with some kind of surround sound, there is a certain feeling of the sound of a full-fledged home theater. in films with a Dolby atmosphere, there are a lot of bottoms. in games there is no superfluous sound at all, let's say superfluous bottoms, where they should not be. hi-fi systems often sin with this. pleasant indication, not annoying, but also informative. extremely adequate touch control. good volume, you can do it loudly, at the level - not to hear each other. there is a night mode that is difficult to activate (in the depth of the application), but someone may find it extremely useful. nice soundbar and compact.
Cons
  • stereo sound is unreal hat. speech is unintelligible, the sound is just crap, it sounds cheap. I repeat, it is in stereo, that is, YouTube or Twitch if you watch it, it's just unpleasant to listen to. the application is almost like a guard. on the one hand, there is a sound calibration using an iPhone. Well, I calibrated, the result is zero. he switches there before / after, generally zero. and my ears are more or less normal. paradox. there is a nuance with volume. I think it's non-linear. You're watching Nolan's Batman. I make it louder, but the volume of the voice rises slightly, but the sounds of explosions and other loud events - significantly. this can be a plus if you like direct loudness, but I don’t look like that, so for me the readability of voices always wants more. By the way, there is such a function, it is also hidden deep in the application, it is inconvenient to use. the volume of the voices increases, but not adequately everywhere, in some places the hump on the equalizer on the middle ones just twists crookedly. To be honest, I miss the remote control. so let there be these night modes and voice amplification. maybe something else. yes, the volume switches itself, from any remote control, but I don’t want to go into the smartphone for important functions. and there is also a simple equalizer, high and low. well, they feel extremely unnatural, I would leave them at 0, because as if they are already superimposed on the sound at a high level, that is, they worsen the sound in general. Dolby Atmos is not quite real here, it is, as it were, simplified, relative to the Sonos Arc. but thank you for at least that. And, ah and music, sounds extremely mediocre.
