After installing the Smittybilt HD spare wheel holder I was looking for something to replace the factory light. That is the solution. It doesn't obscure my jeep's rear window any more than an oversized tire and lets in more light. With a tinted cover over the LEDs, it's virtually invisible when the brake light is off. Easy to install, does its job well.

I installed it about 6 months ago and had no problems. I modified it a bit to accommodate the rear camera. I had to be careful not to pinch the wire. You can't easily remove it if needed because there is no plug. The wires are firmly connected and must be cut off. Luckily I never had to remove it. It's on a 35-inch tire with an 18-inch wheel.

Given how easy it is to spend twice as much on a competitor, I walked in with low expectations. When I opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised. The fit and finish is good, and it's easy to cut two wires for installation. Lots of cable slack. I would suggest the instructions include alternatives to duct tape. At the same time, I think people looking to cut into their car's wiring should be aware that there are better options for moisture sealing.
