The best DIY spring compressor.

Thrust bearings and ACME threads require a small amount of torque to turn the screws. This greatly simplifies the use of the tool. I have used three other spring compressors available and this is by far the best.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Maximum rating distorted

The product description on the Revain website states that it has a maximum working load of 6000 lbs with 3 times the safety factor. But the instructions that came with the spring compressors state a maximum load capacity of 1200 kg per pair (2640 lbs). Not even close! It looks like a good tool but the concern is that the performance has been distorted so much and now I don't know if it can handle a truck spring (the reason I bought this model).

  • Great for me

Misleading for Air Conditioning

I have not used this product but I had a long conversation with the retailer about the misleading description. I'd like to blame Revain, but in the video I watched from the retailer's website, it actually has 6,000 pounds of compressive strength. Gather people WTF! The whole reason I bought this product is because it was stronger. The rep I spoke to apologized for the video and description of Revain. He said it was 2750 pounds, still very strong but then again, WTF!

You can make a big spring

These spring compressors run very quietly thanks to thrust bearings. The construction is very good. I haven't had any spring compression issues on a 2004 Honda Pilot. Those are pretty good weight springs. Just keep the compressor threads well lubricated and there will be no problems. The spring mount on these Pilot struts is a bit wide so I had to use a roller pry bar and hammer to get the compressor into the 4 pin position. Once in position, these superchargers gave me no trouble compressing…

  • The list will be long.

Simple, sturdy spring compressor

I have two sets of inexpensive spring compressors, including a well known brand, that bend and slip when the springs are compressed. I wanted something better but at a reasonable price. I was willing to pay the normal price for them but was a bit skeptical as they are very similar to other tools that cost a lot less. When the price mysteriously halved in one day, I quickly bought them before the price changed again (I've had rapid inexplicable price swings on Revain lately). Although they…
