Speedrite AN20 0.04 Joule Battery-Powered Fence Energizer Review

We had one when we lived in Oregon and it worked flawlessly for over 10 years. Bought a new one recently, exactly the same as the previous one and still works as intended.

Not bad for a small charger. Easy to connect. I only use it to block access to my barn. The bite is small but enough to keep mules and horses out of the stable. I wouldn't use it to keep a mule in a hot wire pen overnight, but I didn't buy it for this job.

Somewhat skeptical about buying this because of the low cost and performance. We set up little shelters for our horses when we camp with them and our one horse that likes to reach for the grass on the other side touched it and that was all it took to keep from touching it again to attempt. That's more than enough for small temporary installations, and the batteries have endured two three-day tours, and whether they'll be enough for the next one remains to be seen.
