It took almost a year before the wires failed. contacted Sperry support and left a message 4 days ago. I don't think they will call back. So I will try again. I have owned a Sperry clamp meter for over 10 years with no problems. I keep them both in the same case and they still look like new. It is most likely just a defect. First I'll tell you what I liked about this tester and second I'll tell you what I didn't like. This tester has a nice loud through tone. The non-contact voltage detector is a nice extra feature that works very well. Depending on your preference, you might like the thinner body of this tester. I've had testers that feel thick in the hand, but this one is comfortable for me. I like two separate test leads. I hate testers that have a separate line and one built into the tester.
