Sal does what Sal does. Keeps soldering iron tips clean and shiny. A bit pricey for what I'm used to, so 4 stars. The bar should last for years

I would like Revain to review the product descriptions. In the specs it is listed as 3"x5"x1. The block is slightly smaller, 2" x 3-1/4" x 3/4". Too bad it was the size they advertise as small for big irons.

Works great. Remember that in a humid environment like a Florida garage, moisture will be drawn from the air and puddles will form. So put it in an airtight container when not in use. Selling in a tin would be a great benefit.

Some experienced stained glass artists in my class suggested the Sal Almoniac block to keep the soldering tip clean. That works great. I used it and a classmate of his used it on his iron and he cleaned it well. A soldering iron works well when kept clean.

I can't believe I soldered for almost 20 years before hearing about these tin rods. I'm more used to the powder than a can. However, this material is AMAZING, it retains the tips so well and quickly. I foresee this blockage lasting a lifetime. In my opinion, a must, regardless of whether you are a hobbyist or a craftsman.

This material is great for cleaning all types of tips and soldering iron tips, especially before starting. It's especially good when I use pure copper homemade bits in cheaper auto irons. This bar-sized unit will give you a LONG time at a fantastic price. Anyone who solders a lot should have an ammonia block under their soldering tools, nothing makes cleaning and extending the life of soldering tips easier.
