Great replacement for SRAM SX4

The shifters came pre fitted and routing the cables to the derailleurs was easy. With good adjustment, shifting feels smooth.

Pros
  • Great fit for me
Cons
  • Some imperfections

Perfect Item in Cycling

No fiddling with cables in the grips and jumping straight to the installation point. I tried to replace and it took forever and mistakes were made so it saved me a lot of time by spending a little more time in advance. I wish I had just done it from the start. Good product.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Secret

Installed to replace defective original Shimano index shifters. Thanks to the supplied cables, they are quick and easy to install. After installation, my bike ran better than ever. Shifts are crisp and quick. I can't believe $30 made such a difference. These cost twice as much.

8 speed switch does not work

I unpacked the box and the rear derailleur was nothing like the derailleur in the plastic bag. I mounted the rear derailleur with the cable that came with it. It didn't stick or move, and after trying again to figure out a way to pull it off, I finally removed the lid to see what was wrong. There was a part missing so I guess someone must have sorted it out beforehand. Beware of buying from this seller.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

I replaced the SRAM rotary switches with a SRAM x.4 8 Speed Trigger and I love them. No more accidental shifts when getting up to walk up a hill. Trek 7300 2005. Installation took about 45 minutes including handles and was fairly easy. This was my first shifter setup but I'm a do-it-yourselfer.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • old

They're easier to install than you might think.

When I broke my rear derailleur while riding, I was afraid to replace it, thinking it would be expensive or difficult. Turns out it took me longer to figure out which set of SRAM switches I needed to replace. RJ the Bike Guy on YouTube has a guide that will walk you through installing the 7 speed version, but the process for this 8 speed version is identical and will teach you everything you need to know to complete the repair.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Vulgarity

The trigger is difficult to read, easier to change than the previous S4

I switched from the old S4 trigger to this new X4. It's weird to push in the same direction and increase or decrease speed at the same time, with two different triggers of course, but I'm not used to that. The markers are hard to read, I use it to train my partner and let her know how fast I am, now I can tell roughly how fast I am, it's really hard to tell if you're on a 6th or are 5 on derailleur scale or 7. However shifting is much better and easier than my previous S4. I'm happy with the…

Arrived two weeks longer than the switch should have arrived

Item was supposed to ship in about a week but ended up taking over two weeks to arrive. When it arrived it only shifted from eighth to first and then first to third, that was the best I could do and after that it wouldn't shift and it was a waste of time and money. There was nothing in the box to tell me who to call or how to contact the seller and this item was a waste from a terrible seller. I had it set up to ship back to Sram for warranty and had to send it to an authorized seller. I took…
