Firstly if keeping warm is a must I would recommend a shaving bowl or mug over it. It's not a terrible bowl, to be honest. The bottom rubber part seems to be covered in tree sap (worst glue ever) so those with sinks/shelves that get scratched easily can take some good glue and re-stick it. Serves its purpose well. I use a DE safety razor for wet shaving. It's thin stainless steel, and the rubber leg is a piece of molded rubber that's glued to the floor with glue. I can see it coming loose over time (this has been mentioned in some other reviews. Can't complain about the price though. I usually run mine under hot water to heat the metal and then add a few drops added hot water and shaving soap in. Good hot shaving cream and my grill wasn't happier.

Back to DE shaving after 46 years. I bought this bowl along with a Parker 60R razor and a Tweezerman shaving brush. The bowl is beautiful and well made.
