Perfect and accurate

Very accurate. Nice smooth metal with measurements engraved on one side. Easy to use and check measurements. It seems like resizing would be nice too. Came in a plastic bag with a very thin layer of oil on it. There is no liquid or dripping oil in the package. An oil coating is just right to prevent rusting during storage and transportation.

Inaccurate.: Jewelry Gauges & Settings

This is a very strong setting. However, it is not precisely sized. It differs by 1/4 sign. I tested this on several rings that I knew the size of. I also ordered a coin ring at the same time as this mandrel and checked the ring upon receipt and it was also exactly 1/4 smaller. So if you have a size 11 ring, it will show up as a 10 - 3/4 at this setting. Ring size 6 is shown as size 5 - 3/4. The markings seem consistent, just not accurate.

Really well made but 1/4 size makes it useless

Two stars just because it's beautifully made and the numbers are etched into the metal making it easy to read. Everything would be great if the measurements were really accurate. I bought two ring mandrels and two sets of metal ring gauges to ensure accuracy. Both sets of size 6 rings as well as my own ring which is also a size 6 are 5 3/4 on this mandrel. Unfortunately, since its primary purpose is to measure the ring accurately, it doesn't matter how well made it is. I personally would…

Met Expectations: Jewelry Making Tools and Supplies

I had a specific application of this tool in mind and after comparing descriptions and reviews I decided to stop there. It has fully met my expectations and has a good weight. I was a little concerned that what I was about to do would scratch it, but despite a review or two commenting on the event, that hasn't happened to me yet. It's quite glossy, so the numbers are hard to see unless viewed from an angle and in bright light. There is a threaded hole in the big end, but I just drilled a 1"…

Exactly what I wanted

Exactly what I wanted. I don't make jewelry so I wouldn't use this every day. However, I have three rings that are very dear to me because they belonged to my mother. Because they are too big for my fingers, they are constantly "deformed" or distorted and lose their shape. Instead of round rings, I have oval rings that protrude too much on either side of my finger. I hate it, but my local jewelers do expensive repairs every week. I bought this size and a small rubber mallet and very gently…

A must for jewelry buyers

I buy a lot of jewelry online for resale and for my personal collection. Sometimes I get into a situation where I order a ring in one size and receive it in a different size. I recently bought a ring that should have been a size 8. I'm actually a size 7.5 but I like a size 8 so I can wear it on either arm. When the ring arrived it didn't even hit my knuckle. The salesman swore it was an eight because "she wears an eight and it suits her," as if that were the end of the whole problem. Anyway, I…

Imprecise title

I ordered this setting to make a product for a craft fair. The first one I ordered due to its weight tore the paper envelope and was missing from my order. It has been 5 days and I am now desperate to make the product. Contact customer service and they tell me the quickest way to get a replacement is to refund the first order and ask me to order the item again. What I did, however, was having to drop it off at a Revain locker 40 minutes from my house to get it on time (I live in a fairly rural…
