Significantly reduces flow rate

I used this in a brew kettle and with 1.5 ounces of hop pellets it clogged right away. flow with a pump at 2 gallons per hour (I know this because I sat there for an hour and collected 2 gallons). It was real agony. The picture shows the flow rate after I disconnected the pump and scratched the strainer; Note that the valve is wide open. (shell) forms an additional filter layer and prevents small particles from entering the screen.

Pros
  • 12 inches long
Cons
  • Operating speed

Definitely worth buying.

I bought this bazooka because I was too cheap to buy a double bottom for 4 times the price and I have no regrets at all. I was using a local home brew shop owner's mash tun and wanted to build my own so I wouldn't have to keep using it. After hearing that it cost him about $120 to build, I started looking for ways to save money. I built this mash tun for $58, you can't beat it. The LHBS owner and I brewed the same beer side by side, I used my mash tun with a bazooka pipe and he used his doubleโ€ฆ

  • Easy Installation

Well done but doesn't work as well as I had hoped.

Essentially it's a good product. If it's too shallow the flow rate stinks but if it's too much it has got a decent mesh size here and really caught hobs/trub/whatever was in the wort but it was too good because I had good flow about thirty seconds before it did I had to sanitize the long handled spoon and clean the bazooka to keep the flow rate But it still worked well enough on it for filtering by fights.l must.

Pros
  • 1/2" NPT male thread suitable for pots that can be brewed
Cons
  • Good but not great
