I don't see any downsides other than the fact that the toaster heats up on the sides compared to other toasters with plastic trim on the side. Excellent toaster. I had a slide toaster that made a mess every time I needed to toast bread. Like other toasters, it catches crumbs. I especially like that it has 4 slots for toasting bread quickly. It toasts bread on level 3 (it comes out 1-6, which means medium setting) in 2 minutes. I want to see how long my toast lasts.
