It was annoying that there was no GPS in this

I bought it with the expectation that GPS would be in it. Little did I know it had to be hooked up to a separate GPS unit to work properly. The default horizon should create more intuitive product names so the GPS and non-GPS models are more unique.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Critical Information

Must have an MMSI number (easily obtained from Boat US) or it will emit an annoying beep. Must be connected to a working GPS or it will emit an annoying beep every 10 minutes. On a sailboat with a radio in the cabin and a GPS at the helm, you'll need to run a cable to connect to both. If I knew that, I would buy a radio with a built-in GPS.

Pros
  • Marine Radios
Cons
  • Hard to Tell

Not working after 3 months

STANDARD HORIZON SUCTS. I did some work. I suspect a bit of rain water spoiled it, so is it waterproof? Yes, don't think so. Now std hrizn says I have to pay to send it to them and they will fix it if they can and if not they will replace it with e.g. King which is probably just as waterproof. I feel like I was ripped off from this purchase, I will never buy from them again.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Mostly ok but...

Transfers don't work.

There were delays in installing the radio. We are on the 41st day since we received the radio. Once turned on, the radio received but did not transmit. This is a huge problem! Revain referred me to Wired Fox Technologies for being a third party. Wired Fox's "Kandra" emailed and said she couldn't get a refund, or even offered to turn off the radio because it was after 30 days. Told me to ask Standard Horizon for help. BAD customer service.
