Standard Motor Products CP454 Canister Review

Worked great on my 2002 Chevy Silverado. Found looking for DTC P0449. It seemed to work great. Installation wasn't difficult either.

The exchange works perfectly. Disconnected battery after installing the part on my 2003 Chevy Silverado 1500 and the check engine light is off. Now I can pass the emissions.

The part works and I no longer have the check engine light on my Silverado. The item comes with a long pre-bent hose. This hose is not intended for the ventilation side of the device. You will need about 14 feet of 5/8 heater hose so the vent can be placed over the transmission. There are videos on YouTube that can show you how to operate the hose. The job took about two hours after I had all the parts to complete the job.

Would be perfect if it included another piece of hose and two clamps for the bleed, cut a piece of the hose provided to use for the bleed , and added some brackets. The preformed hose fits perfectly in the original path, but it's a tricky job without removing the gas tank. If you don't mind hooking up the wiring harness, it may be cheaper and much easier to use a generic product and place the solenoid in a different location.

Nothing wrong with that, just in my opinion this Standard Motor Products CP454 is an improved model with a remote filter to solve dust problems. Please take a good look under your truck before purchasing this item. This was not necessary on my 2004 Silverado K1500, 5.3 throttle, extra. Cabin 6.5 feet.
