After receiving these chisels I waited a bit before writing this review. I wanted to be able to use them and give an informed review. I read a lot of reviews about chips and poor quality. These bits are not expensive, top quality bits. They are great for me and for light housework. Plunging door hinges, DIY applications, etc. If you make a living from your tools, you're probably better off spending a few bucks more and getting better quality chisels. They were sharp out of the box and held…
I don't complain about the work at all. I've used a belt sander to create the edge then auto sandpaper (400-3000 grit) to sharpen and micro bevel the blade, 20-30 minutes to prep each blade and so far they've been great. They don't last as long as the blade but for $10 it's better than I expected. I've touched up the microbevel 2 times in 6 months on my most used chisel with moderate home use and the other two need their first touch at the moment. Once micro beveled they are very sharp and work
Very impressive chisel set. I will be ordering another set or two so I never have to buy another set of chisels again. Is always. Out of the package and onto the bank they went. I've never seen a blade cut through a piece of wood the way these things do. I've looked at expensive sets, I've watched all the videos on YouTube that talk about chisels. I found the comments on this Stanley set about how spicy they are right away and thought it would be worth $10 to find out if they were true. Of…
These chisels deserve 4 stars but not 5 stars because they are not quite correct/square. They are very sharp and also very receptive to being re-sharpened with my stone, but they didn't have that perfectly square sharp edge that makes the first use of new chisels so enjoyable. For the money I can't complain. They also arrived on time. They grind the thinnest of shavings well, but again, they're not quite square to my naked (wood-experienced) eye. A fresh chisel should be tasty and fresh in its…
These chisels are top notch. Anyone looking for an economical chisel should not hesitate to buy one. I have been using this product for several years. When I was a framer (carpenter) I carried one like this in my bag for all sorts of things. The handles on these things are pretty much indestructible. I hit them with a 24oz waffle hammer head with no problem. Some of the reviews I've read make me wonder if people are just trying to use other people's products to improve their own. I'm serious…
Fantastic starter chisel set for any beginner carpenter. I bought this as my first training set and am very happy with it. I've since learned how to sharpen woodworking tools and these chisels can be of great benefit. I have included photos of the edges I received and a video demonstration of these edges. I have also included photos showing the dimensions of the various chisels included. / 2 inch chisel. Pros: * Super great price * You can get a sharp razor blade * Edges last a while * Three…
