Stanley has a long history of making excellent, affordable job site chisels with steel tipped handles for longer life. They were razor sharp and each had their own easy to use plastic guard to keep them that way. It's a pleasure to use.
When I bought it it was sharp. Used to install doors, insert hinges and hardware for two doors. Unfortunately the edge has faded. It then seemed to tear when I cut. Carpenter with 25 years of experience. I kept the Stanley I bought years ago and it has held up. It's not like this.
Good chisels, great price. I have had other devices of the same brand etc for years. They have a nice sharp edge, made in England. I'm a contractor and I use them at work. I like that I can use my steel hammer on them, very powerful. As a bonus, they're clear, my old ones aren't.
