Not the same quality as before

I had a great 35ft Stanley FatMax and used it for over 10 years. Never had a problem with it. It eventually broke when the tape got stuck in a piece of Unistrut and broke when I pulled it out. So I decided to order a new one. The new FatMax is cheap junk. I've been using it for a few months. A tape measure is thinner metal that cuts your hand, doesn't stay straight when you try to measure vertically, creases very easily, and constantly snags and doesn't snap. I would go back, but it's outside…

Made in the USA! (by cheap foreign standards)

NOT the Stanley FatMax you remember! They used to be great records, I've looked at two in the last 10 years. My old ones were finally rusting and worn out after 10 years of almost daily use, so I replaced them with these overpriced paperweights. They made the tape thinner (just to reduce production costs and increase profits I'm sure) so they took a great tool and made it frustrating and useless. What was once a sturdy tape, ideal for those who often work alone, is now weak, flexible, easy to…

Lower quality new version

I agree with some of the other posts regarding the quality of this newer version of bold max. I'm a concrete carpenter and have been using the 35ft thick Max since it came out. I just recently bought a replacement and found that the band itself has turned into a thin, less curved band that flexes more often as the band is lengthened, especially when trying to hook the band vertically, like on pillars or walls. This and the fact that the band will stretch 11 feet before breaking was the reason I

Just fell apart! for Roulette

I've heard so much about Fat Max Roulette that I just had to try it at our house. I bought two 25' tapes and one 40'. They were delivered to me on April 1st 2020 so maybe that explains what happened once I used them. 40" tape was enough for 3 measurements. All 3 were 37 ft-3 inches. On the third and final measurement, the tape rebounded so quickly that it ended up snapping, almost cutting the tape in two at about the 2" mark It ripped in half. I also cut my finger in the process. The 25' tape…
