Avoid, many of them have weak feathers.

Preface: When I found out mine was faulty I went to Wal-Mart and found that half the shelves defective on the shelf were the same way. Review: I recently bought one of these and the first time I used it I knew something was wrong. It unrolled too easily and once extended about 120 inches it wouldn't automatically retract properly and I had to manually reel it all the way in until it retracted again near the end. The magnet is just a trick! I love seeing other people work with the same tape so don't feel too stupid to buy it.

I love new things. I've never heard of magnetic tape before, and yet, "Hey, if Stanley's team made magnetic tape, I bet there's all sorts of research on why they put it in there, so I should buy it." I like the FatMax part about the band because it's wider, easy to read, and you can send the band 11 feet without support before it collapses, but the magnet hasn't really gotten much use yet. Works great and is great value for money

As always, Stanley make a great tool. I had an old Stanley tape that was probably 25 years old and I let it rust a bit and also dropped some stuff on the ruler itself so it was time to replace it. Given how long these Stanley products last, I'm surprised they don't charge more. I really like how well this model allows you to stretch the band in the air without folding it. My old tape warped a little when I accidentally stretched it more than the weight would allow and it developed a crease…
