Large Star Mark Pro-Training Dog Collar - 21-inch Review

I have a very high drive Breton dog. He has a high drive, but he's not as hardy as a Chesapeake Bay Retriever that needed an old medal collar. This is ideal for a soft dog. These are training collars that will trick the dog not to pull or fall as they will correct themselves if they do so. I don't use it like a choke collar for active correction. This is a softer collar, ideal for its purpose. I'm not sure how good it will be in an adult male malamute.

Changed design from a few years ago, swivel removed. It now comes with a safety collar which is probably a good thing as I've had 2 of these breaks. They were well used and the nylon strap broke, not the plastic clasps. I believe this is a safe and humane way to control an overactive Weimaraner. The collar is not as intimidating as its metal spiked counterpart and does not harm the animal. It's just a gentle reminder of who's in charge.

I have a 14 month old German Shepherd boy who has his own opinion when we go for a walk. My trainer uses this collar for dog training. That's how I found out about it. We bought this for our 70 lb pit bull because he wouldn't stop pulling on us while walking. We were able to remove a few links to fit her, which was nice. It's plastic, so we don't feel like it's as hard on them as the metal ones. Also, we don't like the way metal looks on dogs lol.
